    Seabae clown & Percula

I set up a 75 gallon tank in the library of the elementary school where I work. The kids love the tank. They sit in front of it and watch every move the fish make. I only have two small dominoes, two green chromis and a seabae clown. The kids were asking me if I could get a "Nemo" fish refering...

Going from crushed coral to live sand?

Maybe I was just lucky but I switched from CC to DSB about two months ago without loosing any of my fish. I had my tank set up for over a year when I made the decision to change. I did half a tank at the time. Moved all my rocks to one side of the tank and all the fish moved to where the rocks...

    DSB Raking

There is always a brown layer of algea on the surface of my DSB. If I rake it slightly it is nice and white but I don't know if I should disturb the top layer at all. Should I rake it or leave it alone?

For the chemist who know fish

About six weeks ago I switched fro CC to 5"+DSB. Everything is doing great but I have noticed a blueish/grey coloring along the glass just below the top inch of the substrate. There also air pockets along the same area. It almost has the look of baby swiss cheese with mold. I also read on an...

    Cheap Nori

I have always bought my nori at the lfs (expensive) or just clipped some romaine lettuce. I am sure that many of you already know that you can buy nori at the grocery store. I recently bought some at our Publix (Florida) for $1.75 a pack. There is enough in one packet for about four weeks.

    Meet Big Blue

Bought this guy a year ago. He was the size of a quarter. He still sleeps in the same crevice he used when he was a baby; however, half his body sticks out.

    Meet Mellow Yellow

This guy almost died when a youngster. It hid behind the rocks for over three weeks and could hardly swim. Good diet and tender care brought him back. He runs the tank.

    Moving and switching to DSB

Yes, I kept all my fish and rocks in the tank. I cut a 5" piece of wood to fit the width of the tank and placed across the middle in the bottom. This wood served me as a measure for the 5" DSB I wanted. I moved all the rocks to one side of the tank and the fish quickly found refuge on the same...

    Moving and switching to DSB

I don't thin you'll regret the switch. I did it about six weeks ago and so far so good. I have a 120 G tank and used 225# of sand and 25# argonite(sp) live sand on top. I moved all my CC using a fish net. When you do this you realize how much dirt accumulates in your tank. I could not find...
