I turned it off because I can't stand by my tank 24/7 and dump out the cup so it doesnt overflow.

I'm 7 days into my cycle. I turned my skimmer on just to see if it would do anything. and it filled the cup up about three times in an hour and a half i turned it back off because it wouldn't stop, is this normal?

looking at my tank tonight with a flash light like i always do, i noticed these little mosquito larvae looking things swiming around and they like the light, i've never seen these before are they shrimp?
