    sump/fuge size

I've always heard that the biggest sump you can get, get it, because higher water volume is always better. Get one that you can fit all of your hardware in (skimmer*and skimmer pump*, heater, return pump), and make sure that you will be able to get it under your stand. If you already have the...

    WTB Lifereef Single Overflow

Ok, so I'm not just trying to take the cheap way out here by trying to get the overflow used. It seems as though Lifereef isn't making any more until the end of January? :( That's just way too long.. does anybody have one that ya don't need and could sell? I'm ready to hook up this dang sump and...

    Chip in tank

aquarium silicone would work I would think.. you might could get some into the crack, and on the outside. Since it's on the very top, there wouldn't be as much pressure on it as if it were in the middle or bottom. Do this BEFORE you take it inside so that when the crack sprays water all over...

    sump question

might be kinda hard to hold the tank at a nice warm temp during the winter months like that.. and maybe the pump won't put off enough heat? I'd get a heater and put it in that sump anyways... I don't think the heaters get hot enough to melt plastic... better let somebody else chime in though...

I dout there is any bacteria in there yet.. I havn't added anything that should get it going. I was going to wait until I get my sump and skimmer going first. Is this the best way? I just really don't feel like it is the sand causing the problem, because the water was clear before I added the...

it's still very cloudy, about the same as before. I guess I shouldn't expect it to clear up much more until I get the skimmer going on it? I don't have a HOB filter, should I? thanks cordell

ya think ***** will do a salinity test? The water is still real cloudy, but I would think the salt has diluted good by now huh? It's probably just this cheap hydrometer. Will get refractometer some time soon! thanks for the help

the temp is 80degrees... and I made sure that I wasn't getting any bubbles.. when I did, I could tap them off. It says it compensates for temp, but I dout very well.

I'm using Reef Crystals. I just got a cheap hydrometer, the SeaWorld one by Aquatic Systems.. cheap, I know, but all I can get for right now. I wonder if ***** could test it for me? I think the meter actually says 1.030 or just a tad higher.. but I still don't see how the meter could be that far...

    used sump & bioballs?

yeah I'm still wondering if maybe I should just use the bioball area as a refugium later on down the road.. since the sump doesn't really have room for a refugium, and I don't have room under the stand for another tank(refugium).. I have heard good and bad things about the bioballs and I don't...

I must have missed something.. I put my 120lb aragonite sand in my 75 gallon.. I'm not sure how many gallons of space this took up, but just to be on the same side, I started out assuming there was 50g of water in there (I could increase salinity later). So 50g water = 25cups ? I put 25cups of...

    used sump & bioballs?

While at the LFS today, I told the lady I was looking for a used tank for my sump. She showed me this acrylic tank that had been used for a sump on one of her big tanks. It has been torn down since, and the bioballs and all were dry. She sold me the thing for $50, which I thought was good...
