    Algae = Ammonia = Death = Crash = HELP!

So would you suggest I get some macro algae's for the tank? I don't have a refuge (and don't want to set that type of thing up right now). I forgot to mention I also have a yellow tree gorgo and a lil' purple gorgo, yellow's doing alright, but the little 3" purple is almost gone.

Ok, here it goes - {we have/had a 55 gallon with 2 clowns, a 6-line wrasse, a lawnmower blennie, a yellow tang (I know, I know), 4 peppermint shrimp, 1 orange linkia, 1 serpent star, 1 brown cucumber, red, green, striped and blueberry mushrooms, hairy mushrooms, ricordia, large feather duster...

OT: Ryebread, can you recommend a digital camera?

Ryebread - I love your photography, so I thought I'd ask your opinion of what digital camera I should get. I think I've narrowed it down to between the Sony DSC-V1 and the Canon G5. I definitely want digital, so I can erase all the bad photo's I take. I'm definitely an amateur photographer (but...

    Porky on hunger strike!?

Maybe porky puffers fast in honor of Veterans Day??? Our puffer is doing the same thing as yours Coach! Our office has a HUGE porky, he's about as big round as a Big Mac. He's usually a pig and we usually feed him frozen shrimp (like the cooked kind humans eat). He hasn't eaten anything for...

Did my stupidity hurt my brittle?

Yesterday I was expecting my shipment from SWF.com. My husband forgot to do a water change even though he paid $10 for this annoying beeping reminder thingy that tells him when to change the water. Our 55gal was about 2-3 inches low in water, so I figured I'd do a water change before adding...

    SWF.com shipping dates?

What days does SWF ship out orders? I remember it being on their website somewhere...but I can't find it now. I placed an order on Sunday night and now remember that I won't be home for delivery on Wednesday (if that's they day it's coming). Not sure if they're shipping out on Monday or on Tuesday.

Post your pics of what you got from SWF.com!

I didn't find a thread out there that had people submitting photo's of what they've gotten from SWF. So far I've liked everything I've gotten from them and I figure "a picture says a thousand words" so... let's see what you got! :)

    Question for junbug1970

I saw a pic of your 38 gallon setup and love how you have your rocks setup! How did you get all the caves in the bottom of the rockwork without everything toppling over? It looks like you have quite a balancing act there.

    update

Ok aggie, what's your secret? LOOKS GREAT. Really though, what kind of lights do you have and what do you dose/supplement with? That corraline growth is awesome and all the corals look great too. Is that an anemone in there too?

What kind of algae is this?

This is a deep burgandy colored algae...looks somewhere between slimy and corraline. Any comments as to what it is and if I want it or not? I think it looks kinda neat and colorful, but I don't want it to be the dreaded red slime algae I've heard about.

Ozzie, enjoying his big cat toy. He thinks the tank is just for his pleasure. :D He really hates how the LMB teases him by poking in and out of the rockwork!

    fish killers

Oh, now she emptied 1/3+ of the water and has taken a break to have lunch or something. With the water level down, there is no water flow, the sump is turned off, and the heater is still running, but is mostly out of the water. I kinda hope she gets electrocuted.

    fish killers

My office has 2 FO tanks (a 90 and a 120). Lately the salt reads 1.017 in the tanks (yes, we have starfish). :( The boss of the office realizes the salt should be up, so she's going to just empty out 1/3 of the tank and add some REALLY salty water (freshly made salt water too!). I'll be...

The "DO NOT..." Advice List for Saltwater Aquarists

DO NOT become addicted to SWF messageboards and spend half your work day surfing through everyones threads. :D DO NOT figure a budget for your tank...you will surely become wrapped up in the hobby and soon blow your budget to hell. DO NOT add freshly made saltwater to your...

    ok

I hear that after many years of urging people to keep these in their tanks, Dr. Ron has just declared these as toxic to the reef system. Especially those with a DSB, or any sand for that matter. It seems that these little fellas have a very adverse reaction to sand and crushed coral.:(
