    new clown + anemone

today I picked up a small ocellaris clown and a condy anemone. So far, they seem to be doing pretty well. I acclimated them both for an hour, and the anemone has chosen its spot in a very exposed place (lucky!) and the clown is swimming around all over the place. So far, the clown has shown zero...

    Emperor 400 WTF!!!

yes, the impeller is in all the way. And I tried pouring water in. I filled it completely up, and it pumped out the water that was in it, but didn't pull in any other.

    Emperor 400 WTF!!!

I've been trying to get my Emperor 400 filter to run for the past hour, and I can't. It won't start. I plug it up, and it makes this horribly loud grinding noise but won't pump the water in! I've taken it apart and fixed it back, it seems like all the intake parts are in place and right, what am...

tywtly13's 29 gallon reef in progress

ok, so...will the anemones (haitian pink tip) be ok with normal lights as long as i feed them meaty foods? I've heard a lot of stories of success with this, but a lot of people also say not to get anemones without super strong lighting? I've kept them before with normal lights and meaty foods...

tywtly13's 29 gallon reef in progress

The tank is already CRAWLING with pods for the mandarin I guess since that goby (not really a goby) gets 13", I will NOT be putting it in my 29 Also, I will research the angel. The only real "reef" characteristic of this tank will be the anemones, so maybe it will be ok. Thank you for your...

tywtly13's 29 gallon reef in progress

I went to the LFS today, and I saw some fish that really made me change my plans. Instead of a pygmy or Coral beauty angel, I will get a midnight angel. Also, would an engineer goby (convict worm goby) be ok in this tank? I saw one today and pretty much feel in love with it, but the little ID...

tywtly13's 29 gallon reef in progress

I'm bored, so I'm gonna post up my tank. No pictures because I have no camera, but it is a 29 gallon tank with 50-75 pounds of live rock and 60-75 pounds of live sand (I don't really remember...it's everything from my 12 gal nano reef and my 55 gal FOWLR). Right now, it only has 2 yellow-tailed...

How can I find a saltwater club.community in my area?

I see it said quite often on here that we should find a "local community or club of hobbyists, because they will be quick to help and will usually sell their equipment for cheap in the clubs" but I can't find one. I've searched on google for "tuscasloosa alabama saltwater aquarium club" and...

    Compatibility and tank size?

Ok, well in this tank I am perfectly content to just have one frogfish. I'll get a sargassum or a zebra once I get it set up, then whenever I can get a larger tank I'll do a lion and scorpion tank. Thank you for your help, sorry for my stubborn-ness!

    Compatibility and tank size?

Ok, well I was at the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg a few years ago, and they had a tank set up with like 4 big frogfish, would I be able to do that? Could I set up this tank for multiple frogfish? If so, what species would you recommend? I definitely don't want to buy fish that will eat each...

    Compatibility and tank size?

So would a sargassum angler work with a couple dwarf lions and a leaf fish?

    Compatibility and tank size?

    hello?

    Compatibility and tank size?

For dwarfs I was thinking of either fuzzy dwarfs or fu manchu's. And that sucks about the angler...it was one of the main reasons for setting up the tank lol. What about a Sargassum angler? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they stay smaller than most other species...would a sargassum angler...

    Compatibility and tank size?

Haha well I'm gonna try to get her in here then. I don't have the resources for a 100 gal, so what could I change to be able to keep them in something smaller? If I lose the volitans, maybe replace them with the dwarfs?...So, new list would be like... 1 or 2 dwarf lions frogfish yellow leaf...

    Compatibility and tank size?

Ok, I have set up my ultimate wishlist for once I get moved and am able to set my bigger tanks back up, and I have some questions. My stocklist is as follows: 1 Volitans lion (classic, of course) 1 yellow leaf scorpion (as sold on this site) 1 frogfish (antennarius sp. sold here also) maybe 1 or...

    Pygmy angel

Ok, I think I may have changed up my stocklist...New list I'm considering would be: 2 Ocellaris Clowns Some kind of dwarf angel (either pygmy, redline, coral beauty, or flame) 2-3 dartfish royal gramma clown goby 3 chromis maybe eventually a dragonet good detritus cleanup crew (stars, crabs)

    Pygmy angel

It's a 30 gallon tank with sand and rocks that are over 3 years old. It's completely mature, nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia = 0, pH = 8.3. It's a good tank. I originally got a 12 gallon nano tank and got sand and rocks, then a 55 gallon which I tranferred the sand and rocks to, then earlier this...

    Pygmy angel

Oh...well crap. I knew damsels were pretty mean, but I thought yellowtails were an exception for some reason So what do you suggest? My stock list plan was those two damsels (basically I got them to test the water to make sure it was ready for life...bad idea I know, but I love damsels), 2...

    Pygmy angel

I have 2 yellowtail damsels in one of my tanks, and I would like to add a pygmy angel. I know that angels are usually aggressive toward their own kind, so would they be ok with the damsels having such a similar color configuration?
