    Tang "community"

Wow guys! Thanks for the replies. I had already given up and was waiting on the Black Tang to finish quarantine to rearrange the rock, but now you have given me new hope. So ok, I will give up on the extra 2 Purple Tangs. How about this then: -Acanthurus guttatus (Mustard or White spotted)...

Thanks! Scratching the whole "Tang tank" idea and going fresh by moving all the live rock around. Ivan

    Tang "community"

Hi everyone. I am about to make a decision and figured I would get some opinions from the fellow hobbyists here. I unfortunately lost my show Black Tang a few months back due to choking. Don't ask me how, but he swallowed a piece of shrimp intended for the moray and immediately choked and died...

    Angel Contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Not good pics due to the flash washing out some colors, but here are my Annularis, Blueline and Griffisi. Ivan

It is indeed a Blueline Angel. There is quite a good amount of info on the web but I can tell you they tend to be less hardy than most angels. They are picky initially but once established, they are quite easy to care for. Mine is very hardy and I got it when it was only about 2 inches long. Now...

I am in Orlando, FL. Female Broomtails are quite impressive as well and they should eventually turn into males, or so I've heard, so you have quite a specimen there for sure. Ivan

Indeed it is "fun" to try to feed the moray but fortunately it always gets at least 3 shrimps per feeding. The Broomtail is the biggest pig there but he can only handle 1-2 shrimps at a time which gives ample time for the moray to eat as none of the other guys can swallow a whole shrimp. Here is...

Thanks for the comments. More pics will follow soon. I will try to get some pics during feeding time if the fish allow me to. Ivan

Pics of the inhabitants of my 300 gallon tank.

I am keeping the salinity in the 1.020-1.021 range. I had some nice algae and inverts that looked like mini feather dusters growing all over the rocks but between the tangs and the trigger they all dissapeared. All the fishes I have were purchased at my LFS whcih brings oddballs all the time. I...

Pics of the inhabitants of my 300 gallon tank.

The one fish I have been playing with the idea of adding is a large Red Sea Blue Bird Wrasse. Not sure how it would work with the Broomtail as wrasses can be a bit intolerant of each other but if the Bird wrasse is big enough, I think it should be ok. I have never had experience with puffers...

Pics of the inhabitants of my 300 gallon tank.

I agree that the Clown Trigger could be the possible problem in the future and will definitely have to keep a close eye on it. That was part of the reason I got a small one in hopes he gets "used" to the tankmates but I fully know that they can go bonkers at any time. Hopefully I will get lucky...

Has anyone ever heard of a Peacock Lion-?

The Lions I have seen being sold as P. miles resemble what I know as P. mombasae. They look similar to Antennata but are indeed a different species. They are not cold water but have read they can hail from deeper waters where collected. Interesting lions for sure and look different than most...

Thanks guys. It took me a while to put the whole collection together but I am very happy with it. I am hoping that they can grow as much as possible in there in the years to come. Ivan

I honestly never heard of popeye being caused by airstones. I will keep a close eye even more now to make sure this doesn't happen. I don't like powerheads for some reason. They get clogged sometimes, can even suck a fish in if they are weak and can produce too much current for the fishes in my...

Finally got a Broomtail but have a question.

He is actually quite big so despite appearing that there is little water there, it is an optical illusion. In any case, he is doing good in the tank now and eating quite well. Thanks, Ivan

Here are a couple pics taken a few minutes ago of the Broomtail swimming about in the tank. The flash washed his colors a bit but you can see the difference between his stressed colors in the acclimation bin and the colors now in the tank. Ivan
