Damsels are aggressive but the perc should become pretty territorial and will be able to fend for itself, especially if it decides to host an anemone. However I've seen damsels try to pick on fish several times their size - even solo (not in a school). So if you run into any trouble it might be...
Oh - OK. We will just try positioning the powerhead to point at it for a day or so and see if it moves.
We have our tank in two arcs - if you look at my profile there should be a pic of it there when we just started. It has positioned itself on the rock in the middle that is actually holding the...
Think we could just stick a cup on top of it? Or something? I can't think of any way we can configure our rocks to make it more shady. It's definitely picked the ideal spot in the tank, lol.
It's my condy, so I told my boyfriend that if we absolutely have to... we can just tear it off... :'( It...
Thanks PD - It's rooted itself very deep inside a hole I'm afraid :( It's snuggled its way into a nook in one of our rocks. We can't even get to it's base.
We are trying to remove our condylactis for fear it will eventually harm our BTA. Last night we tried:
1. Gently tugging.
2. Blowing on it with powerhead.
3. Rubbing ice cube on its foot.
NOTHING! No luck at all. Does anyone have any advice? We want to remove it as humanely as possible... it was...
He didn't touch the red algae. We had to get some powder treatment to kill off that stuff - due for another dose this evening.
He ate the green hair algae on all the powerheads, heater, sides of the tank, etc.
My tank is 23 gals.
I agree with that - don't ever take anything your fish store says for gospel. They are interested in your wallet. Good places will answer your questions but still, don't take it for gospel. Everyone has their own ways of doing things so it's best to get a lot of information and then find out...
Acrid - I understand. I'm very new to this forum as well as new to the whole saltwater thing. Please don't take anyone's advice as "ragging" although it may seem that way sometimes. But again, I understand what you're saying - it's very easy to feel like you're getting beat up with all the...
Last night I witnessed one of my hermit crabs "sitting" on our mushroom polyp. The mushroom of course was a little alarmed, but the crab wasn't eating it - just cleaning it off.
That's what I'll do then, because my boyfriend will kill me if my $6 condy kills his BTA.
Will ripping it off of the rock harm it? Can I at least salvage it and find a new home for it?
PD has recommended that we do 10% water changes once a week for our 23 gal reef.
One of my concerns is the amount of ammonia in the tap water. We run it through a Pur filter into a bucket and then add salt and water conditioner. Despite efforts of the filter, we still run into dangerously high...
