    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

That is very interesting - as I mentioned before, the BTA seems to be shriveling up very frequently!!! Our BTA was MUCH more expensive than the condy... should I consider removing the condy??

    Interesting speculation... baby shrimp??

No way!! I used to wipe all that stuff off with a scraper... and I have 4 snails and a sea hare, LOL. I refuse to believe that my tank is anything but spotless. Especially with that darned hungry sea hare in there haha!! I'm just playing. At any rate... I'm very glad they are beneficial :) :) :)

Who has a Anemone in Reef tank?

My condy will stick to anything it touches - but my BTA just shrivels up whenever it comes in contact with something. Or it used to anyway - it's a little more adapted to its environment in the new tank now, but when it's something it doesn't recognise, it definitely retracts.

    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

Thank you for all the information. So, you don't think weekly water changes will harm the stability of our tank? I am mostly worried about changing their environment so much that it will shock them. Weekly seems a little extensive to me (in all honesty), everyone we know has recommended like I...

    Interesting speculation... baby shrimp??

There are tiny white specks on all sides of our aquariums. They just look like particles but if you focus on one area for a couple seconds, every now and then they seem to "jump" forward. Under a magnifying glass they have little round white bodies, and what looks like a clear tail. Also my dad...

    Ich question

I have heard that Ich needs a host to survive (aka you will never see it on the sides of your aquarium, on the glass). Is this true?

Who has a Anemone in Reef tank?

Why? it's ok lol. They'll sting on sensitive parts of the body (like inner forearm, would leave nice welts there) but the skin on your fingers and palms is too thick to feel anything. It'll just feel really sticky.

    Sea Hare!

We recently got a sea hare to handle the algae problem in our new tank... within about 48 hours the tank was spotless. We have been feeding him algae tablets now (whenever he comes out to play). Does anyone else have a sea hare? Do you feed him anything else besides algae? Just wondering if he...

Who has a Anemone in Reef tank?

That's very interesting! My condy is quite small right now though... but the fish seem smarter than to go near it, plus I'm sure they could wiggle away from it if they ever touched it. It's only slightly sticky to the touch.

    Maroon clown & BTA

OK - I think both of my clowns are captive raised or whatever.

    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

We are going to invest in a master test kit soon. We have a liquid test kit for ammonia. Scanning through the posts - I have already come to the conclusion that our salinity is slightly low so we will be fixing that. Tank has been cycling for about 4 months now (2 with critters in it) and we...

    Maroon clown & BTA

We were told our Maroon would host a green BTA, but it's been in the tank for a couple weeks now and still the maroon has not touched it. Is this typical? I hear it's hit or miss with the whole "hosting" thing.

Who has a Anemone in Reef tank?

I didn't know they weren't reef safe. We have yet to witness any casualties to our BTA or Condylactis!

    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

No problem! I understand that there are SO many factors, it would only be sensible to list specific test readings. I will have to go get those later today (I'm at work now). From memory, pH, alkalinity, ammonia, etc... everything is in the "ideal" range (judging on the charts given with the test...

    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

Oh, ok - I had no idea. I thought that since they changed colors ever since we got them, there was something wrong... There's no problem with the BTA getting all shriveled up all the time? The condy does this when it's digesting, but the BTA seems to do it very frequently.

    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

How long will it be brown? I am glad to hear that this is a good thing but I must be honest and say that I miss it's pearly white color. Ha! yes, it still has it's tips. What is PD, and what is PDQ...? Sorry, I'm sooo new here.

    Help - Anemones turning Brown.

We have a Condylactis and Bubble tip anemone. The condy was opaque white with purple tips when we got it. It is now brown and doesn't seem to react to our touch any more - but still eats. The bubble tip was bright green and is now turning a murky brown color. It shrivels up about 50% of the...
