How high did your water test peramiters get when you cycled?

I also cycled with a raw shrimp. like i said, my cycle just started 2 weeks ago, and my ammonia has gotten even higher, now sitting at 2.0. i just wanted to see how high others test results got before they started to drop. has anyone ever done a partial water change during the cycle?

How high did your water test peramiters get when you cycled?

I know it takes 4-6 weeks to cycle your tank, sometimes less, but how high were your peramiters before they started to drop? my ammonia is at 1.0, my nitrite at 5.0 ppm, and my nitrate is at 20 ppm. I am so exited about adding new fish to my tank, just wanted to see how fast or slow other...

experienced BTA owners, i need tips and suggestions

thanks for the tips, i will be upgrading down the road, so just to be safe, until i do upgrade to a larger tank (probably a 30 gal) then i will be adding the anemone. For now i will be sitcking with replica's just to be on the safe side. and it's a plus anyway because clowns don't need an...

    need to change substrate... how?

okay so basically all i have to do is just add the LS to the tank? not a whole lot of course since there is the gravel there already... i have live rock, only one pound though. going to pick up some more this week. would that be enough? i don't plan on adding any of those types of fish, no...

experienced BTA owners, i need tips and suggestions

Okay so i noticed the BTA is very common, since it's easier to care for than other anemone's. i was looking through some of the other threads and haven't had much help yet. I currently have a 5 gal (i know this is REALLY small, but i had to downsize for the time being as my parents just decided...

    need to change substrate... how?

I am currently using regular gravel for my Sw tank and just started my cycle, but i want to change it to either LS or crushed coral. to do this, would i have to start my cycle over again? or is there a way i can change the gravel to sand/chrushed coral without disturbing the cycle? or can i...

need as much info on buble tip anemones

thanks, that might be actually a good idea. i am located in ontario, canada. I would buy online, but i am not sure the fish or anemone would survive, and don't really want to risk it.

need as much info on buble tip anemones

Thanks for the help! I heard that tank raised is better to go with since they are already tank raised... I would have to go and find out at Big Al's (the only aquarium in my area that sells saltwater stuff) if they have tank raised anything. hopefully I will get lucky!

need as much info on buble tip anemones

Thanks, i read that when the Anemone is unhappy with it's conditions it will move to a better spot. And I also read that if you house corals and anemone's in the same aquarium war could be waged hehe But if the chances are that my Clown will be happier with an anemone, then I would be better of...

need as much info on buble tip anemones

lol i was thinking i would keep one anemone to begin with, but i wasn't sure if corals are okay to be in the same tank as anemones? also, would be it be better to stick with corals? like would the clownfish be happy with corals? because if it is easier to keep corals and the clownfish would be...

need as much info on buble tip anemones

Thanks for the quick reply. I agree with you in that clownfish don't need anemone's to survive, but down the road i would like to get one. right now i have to upgrade my lighting as it's a flourescent bulb. And i was thinking it might be about 6 months or so before i should be adding any...

need as much info on buble tip anemones

hello everyone, as i am cycling my SW aquarium, and planning on purchasing a clownfish (most likely an Ocellaris or false percula), I am interested in eventually adding an anemone. I did some research, and found that the bubble tip is one of the easier anemone's to care for. But I am not sure if...

    Fish Tank question

Yes, I use a product similar to that one, but it is not enough. You still need to cycle your tank. Right now, your aquarium has no Bio-Load. What is Bio-Load? The demand placed upon the life-support system in the aquarium as a result of the metabolism of all the living organisms present in the...

    Fish Tank question

oh you don't have to test your water everyday. during your cycle i would say every week you should be testing your water. but once it's done the cycle every 2 weeks is fine. generally, you would see signs in the fish, inverts, or corals if you had any. but in my experience you are more likely to...

    Fish Tank question

no problem. well, i have more experience with freshwater, but for now i'm pretty sure you don't have to do any water changes. probably if you see any increase in ammonia, nitrite or nitrate then you need to do a water change. depending on the size of your tank, you might have to do water changes...
