will this fist list work? plus some other questions

Trigger might kill the lion. Trigger and possibly the puffer might outgrow the tank. 100 gallons is the absolute minimum for a Picasso trigger, IMO. Just my two cents.

    Puffers and Angelfish

SLCFish, you've nailed it. Those are exactly what my two angelfish look like, except they are even smaller than that. One is black and white, and the other is almost always white, except it can develop black stripes when near the other angelfish A lot of variations in freshwater angels. As...

    Puffers and Angelfish

I'm going to go out on a very thin limb here... The behavior you are describing sounds to me like that of freshwater angels and brackish puffers. Sounds like your angels have paired, and IMO it would be unbelieveably rare for that to happen between two saltwater angels in a 10 gallon tank...

Tankmate suggestion for a 75 FOWLR?

    Fair enough!

    confused by my filtration.

What fish are you keeping? How many pounds of live rock in your display? You can run a third party filtration system independent of the overflow/sump if you wish. A hang-on power filter (Emperor 400) or a canister filter (Magnum, Fluval) would probably sooth your fears.

Tankmate suggestion for a 75 FOWLR?

No offense, but IMO a 75 is too small for a volitan. I have a 75 myself, so I'm assuming that tank dimensions are at or near 48x18x20. Awful tight for a 15 inch fish that can have a fin span every bit as long as its body. a 75 is probably the minimum for a Tusk, as well. IMO, don't add anything...

    confused by my filtration.

I'm by no means an expert on this, because I don't run a sump/fuge, but here's my opinion: it just has a big sponge in the before the return pipe that the water has to go through to get up back in to the tank This keeps large particles from making it back into the tank with your return water...

    Will this work?

Would a lion fit into this picture? The niger trigger might kill the lion; a clown trigger definitely would. Triggers are normally lionfish killers. There are exceptions, of course, but generally speaking its not a good mix. Not sure about your grouper questions.

    150 stock

Lionfish + Trigger = dead lionfish Not a combination that you should try, IMO.

Lost a Foxface, suggestions on replacement

Definitely NOT a puffer. Not only are they potentially lionfish killers (as is the Niger Trigger), but with a SFE, Volitan, and Tusk in a 75, you are already pushing the bio-load limit, IMO, and a messy puffer will definitely make things worse. Moreover, each of the fish you already have could...

    Puffer in a 25?

I agree with Jon; the brackish puffers are definitely worth a look for that size system.

    100gal

I hate to disagree, but both the trigger and the eel are potentially harmful to the lionfish. Most eels and triggers are out of the question when searching for tankmates for lions. Stick to fish like groupers, tangs, and peaceful wrasses like the Harlequin Tusk.

    135 Gallon

Generally speaking, no triggers or large angels with lions. Puffers are iffy. Eels can also be iffy with lions, but zebras and snowflakes are generally okay. As far as other fish are concerned, plenty of options remain. Most fish that are not too aggressive and are too big to be consumed by...

Need help w/ my Cali Ray

You might want to seek the advice of psusocr1. I'm pretty sure he has two Cali rays, and would probably be the best person to ask. Good luck.

    100 gallon FOWLR

exactly.....minimum for one.. In my experience, most sites/stores/books that talk about minimum tank sizes usually have them grossly underestimated, probably because they know that most people will be put off if they read about fish that really require hundreds of gallons to properly care...

Lemme see your "loaded with liverock" pics!

Uh Oh....I hear the sirens coming....Two yellow tangs in a 29 gallon Actually, if you're talking about the first tank I think the one swimming at mid-level is a lemonpeel angel.

    Harlequin tusk-hardiness and compatability

HTs are pretty hardy, and longtime survival can be pretty much guaranteed provided you start with a healthy specimen and maintain good water quality. If you are concerned about hardiness, you will probably want to invest the extra time (and money) to ensure that you get a specimen from...

    dogface puffer

Are you planning to put all of these fish in the 200 once you get it? I ask only because adult puffers sometimes don't tolerate each other, which can be particularly true with porc puffers. If you do combine everything into one tank, I would keep a close eye on how your puffers react to each...

    My Tank

One other thing comes to mind. Having read some of your threads and having seen some of the fish that you want, I think I can safely say that either money isn't an issue with you or you don't have any idea how much some of these fish cost. Just to name a few of the highlights that I have seen...

    My Tank

but I want to start up my first marine tank and this is what I was thinking.. I don't want to seem like a jerk, but if this is your first marine tank, why are you thinking about keeping some of the most difficult animals to care for (i.e. sharks, moorish idols, etc)? Do yourself a favor and...
