I would do a the water change about every 3 weeks or so. I DIDN'T change my water for about six weeks when it was cycling and I think that would have made a difference. I didn't change the water till I had a big area of brown algae growing on my substrate and I think I should have changed it way...

Just an update. I got home from work today and walked up to my tank and he had no blotches on him. As I was looking at him they appeared again. Then I went into the kitchen for a bit then went back they were gone again and again as I was looking they came back... weird!!! Maybe I freak him...

I feed mine formula 1 and frozen shrimp. but he'll eat feeders <ones that he can fit in his mouth> squid, krill, things like that.

I have a question. What fish are part of the clean up crew? And also I have a high nitrite level, 1.0 possibly higher. What can I do? My tank has been up for 6 weeks. A couple of weeks ago the nitrite level was very low now it is too high.
