Sounds like a sea hare. Aplysia? Bursatella? Size you gave is awfully large for a limpet.

    Protein Skimmer

I've been using one for close to two years now. Doesn't mean I know anything about them though. What's your question? I have to clean the pump and venturis every couple of weeks. It does not take much to clog the small openings. The pump gets cleaned too and I seem to go through too many...

    Clams and PC

I used to think my PC lights were pretty bright. I have a 55-gallon with 260 watts of PC. In the winter, direct sunligh hits half of my tank. When that happens, the part of the tank that is not in the sun looks like it's in deep shade. Just shows how PC lighting is not anywhere lilke...

    crocea clams under compact lights?

I have the same wattage in my 55 gallon. My crocea and squamosa are doing fine. I dose heavily with DT phyto, the rationale being that a lot of supplemental food would help because of the low light (for a clam).

    Which PC blues

Hi, My 55-gal has a 4X65 watt JBJ PC over it. I have been running two 10,000k daylights and two 6,700K JBJ blue bulbs. JBJ now offers a true actinic 03 bulb. Since I am ready to change out the bulbs, I am wondering whether I should move over to the JBJ true actinc 03 lamps? What are the...

    Featherduster handling

Now the problem is that my sailfin tang has decided to keep moving the featherdusters around the tank. It is continuously picking the tubes up and moving them from place to place. They aren't getting much chance to settle in! I don't know how the tang did it, but I found one worm up near the...

    Featherduster handling

I just picked up two featherduster worms at a very nice price, but I'm not sure how to place them. The leathery tubes are split in places and the one worm that has emerged is coming out from the side of the tlube rather than the end. The second worm has not emerged yet. Should I just leave...

    power compacts for anemone

Here's what I see as a main difficulty with PC lighting. I've had my PC lights for one year now. At the outset, it all seemed pretty nice---230 watts on a 55-gallon tank (two daylight bulbs and two fake blue bulbs). Over an eight-month period animal health declined and I lost light demanding...

    Heater replacement

Nothing lasts forever. Is there an age at which heater reliability declines enough that it is wise to replace an otherwise working heater to avoid risk of failure? Or, do most of you folks just wait until it stops working? My heater is now three years old and working well. Except for...
