whoever said get the sandbed is right, now i'm not saying bad things about crushed corals but a deep sandbed has a more surface area on each grain of sand which means more bacteria to live on which means converting ammonia to nitrite to nitrate and nitrate bubbling up in the air :)

i think people says a 4 inch at least for a sandbed is because maybe 4 inches provide a lot of area for the fauna

thank you someone talks about this subject finally. I have a 2 inch sand bed of aragonite and so far(hopefully forever) everything register zero. I see the nitrogen process in the sand . I just think if you have a deeper san bed maybe it might denitrify faster? well my 2 inch sand bed works great

Hi everyone i jsut bought a galaxia coral. I have 2 55 watt power compaacts in a 30 gallon and i was wondering should i place the coral near the top or just put it near the bottom cuz it has only been 2 minutes and the coral looks happy

i dont want to sound like a smart @$$ but in my opinion i dont think a refugium is nessarry in a small tank it would be a good addition in a large thank though. Also all you need is a deep sand bed and live rock in your sump it does the job and trust me a sand bed will bring nitrates...
