Anyone have any experience with mud filters? Are they good filters, bad etc.... I have one now that I purchased from LFS. They said you dont have to add any chemicals calcium, alk etc... Also they said I dont need a protein skimmer. Any suggestions?

As you can see I have the two powerheads on the left and right side. Is two too many? The powerhead on the left is pointing towards the surface and the one on the right is pointing straight towards the other side of the tank. Any suggestions??????

Will water changes help the ammonia?. Do you think the alk and kh is high?

My shrimp tries to attack any fish that comes near it. Fish are too fast for him. I just introduced the coral banded shrimp over the weekend. Hopefully he will get used to the surroundings.

I have learned a valuable lesson The anemone looked like it was turning itself inside out. Looks like it is shrinking up. I feel bad for him but again I learned. Thanks again. I will post a pic later on tonight.

Yes it is a reef tank. 55 gallon w 90 lbs LR. I dont want to get the corals or anything like that until i have the proper lighting.

Yes I do have a canopy. I built the canopy to fit the 4 foot flourescent fixture. If needed i dont mind doing alterations, I just want to do it right the first time. EX.. Correct fixture,ballast,bulbs etc..... Thanks again

Thanks to everyone for the responses, currently i am using a 4 foot home depot fixture w/ two 60 watt bulbs. Nothing special but I am working towards the lighting upgrade. Anyone have a particular place that you order from? Thanks again.
