Lion and puffers? Do they eat macro algae in case i put them in a marine planted tank. I want to do a marine planted tank with some lions and puffers.

Can semi aggressive fish like lion, puffers go along well in a marine planted tank? I heard that tangs love to eat the macros but not sure if lions and puffers will eat too. Any idead or suggestions!!! Thanks

Well I see a trigger huma huma and niger trigger with lion at the pet store and they seem like they are doing fine together. Thanks for all your suggestions and ideas. I am still deciding. Definitely lion will get in, maybe with dogface and a tang. Can butterfly go in there too?

Did you clean the filter media too? If not use the old filter media and use Seachem Stability that will help cycle the tank faster. You can also add some more live rocks from your LFS. How much old water did you use? You will know it is cycled when ammonia and nitrite goes up and both will start...

If you have more live sand or sand from other established tank that would really help too.

Ok so you all are saying the triggers are more aggressive than lionfish? Gosh that petstore told me the lion would eat the triggers if they were small.

Seachem stability works great to cycle tank. ph should get normal within few days. since you used stuff from already established tank you should get cycled soon. did you use any old filter media from established tank. My tank got cycled in 8 days.

Huh I thought it was the lionfish that would eat all other fish like triggers, puffers, tangs etc if they were smaller than lions mouth. How about butterfly? Can they all go together? I like all those fish and having difficulty which one to choose. Definitely I like lion more just for the looks...

Thanks. Someone at petstore told me that saltwater plants dont need that much light as freshwater. So I thought 60 watts would be enough. Also my tank is ony 24 inches tall.
