not sure why the pump failed but the tank did back siphon. thanks acrylic I wondered how they did that. ok so you have the siphon break holes. power goes out siphon is broke. power comes back on and your not home. will the siphon recover when the main tank level returns to normal?
not sure didnt get the whole story just came in during the cleanup. I wanted to set up a sump but don't know anyone who has a successful one... and since murphy's law seems to always apply at our house... the sump is a no go. been pondering a hang on the back refugium..
its a book. I agree snow flake eel. readily available. will eat small fish. anything would be too big for your tank. would have to be a species only tank.
I actually moved everyone all in one day. Added the extra sand later. probably not the best plan but all went well. Taznut- did you check out the live sand calculator on this website?
how deep sand. In order to reduce nitrates you need anaerobic area. I am not an expert but I can't see how you could get enough anaerobic through rock alone.
I don't know much about the plumbing. but my LFS learned the hard way. one pump failed then the overflow shorted out another pump and 30 gal later
I would make sure to consult with someone who KNOWS how.
yup papulae. My star came to the top yesterday so I fed it a piece of clam. I had to hold it there for a few minutes until it grabbed it. very very slow mover. It sat there hanging half off upside down. It took it all day but it disolved the whole piece of meat.
crabs and shrimp yes. may be marginal for anemone, also you will want zero nitrates.I would use some of your cc and lr from the big tank as a starter, or just use the cc and buy new rock and let it cycle. A ten gal you will only want 1-2 fish.
how ARE your nitrates. If you have a good sand bed they should not be a problem. Keep the filter clean and free of detrius. I think it may help break surface tension and oxygenate the water but I can't prove it. I have 2 tanks one with and one without.
marine fishes 500+ have several listed for min 30 gal and a couple at 20 gal. not sure about avail or pricing though. what else is in your tank that may be considered food for an eel?
