    off topic...

I'm agnostic, and this topic will only lead to trouble. IMHO a shark should send this one to the bottom of the sea.

    FINALLY GETTING NEW LIGHTS!

Now we are back down to ~53 gallons. Mr. Bubbles, IMHO the key to getting good advice around here is being meticulous and honest with the data you provide. The answers you receive will be much more valuable to you.

    FINALLY GETTING NEW LIGHTS!

Maybe, if you get the luckiest deal of your life on ----, you might be able to get some sort of passible lighting system. Also, cant remember where i read it....but i saw a guy with plans for a DIY Metal halide system. Something about iwasaki bulbs (sp?) and a metal halid balast from Manards...

    FINALLY GETTING NEW LIGHTS!

Those are not common volumns for fish tanks either. At least not in my experience. Mr. Bubbles, like Sammy said, hight is the most important factor when considering lighting type/strengh. So just get the measurements for that right first....then worry about the rest.

To clean, or not to clean??

Just a quick question. Why won't the coraline algae grow back after you clean it off? I've never done it, but I ask out of curiosity.

    Live Rock, Decorative, or Both?

Good point Baron. I guess the only way i would advocate using a decorative coral piece would be a piece properly harvested. Using only pieces that have been broken off the reef by natural processes, just like a lot live rock. As it happens, I found my small piece among my dad's old aquarium...

    Live Rock, Decorative, or Both?

Just double-checking, but are those showpiece corals dead or alive? I got the impression you were talking about the large decorative pieces you can buy that are bleached/or colored and dead. If so, i placed a medium sized bleached piece in my tank, just to complement the live rock. Just keep...

    TODAY MIGHT BE THE DAY!!!!

Congratulations JavaJoe. Good luck with your baby! I think this is a great opportunity to find out if being a reefo'holic is genetically heritable trait. It would be a great one to have in my opinion. :D ;)

does anyone know anything about starfish?

I had to do the same experiment last year in my college bio class. Those frogs are all in line for a death in bio labs somewhere, and they are specifically cultured for that reason. We didn't kill the frog though, but im sure it ended up being disected somewhere else. Poor little buggers.
