My understanding of lions are that you should only feed them maybe twice a week. I've read that a lot of lionfish die from too much love (feeding). Something to do with fat in the livers. Some of the other guys can answer better.

Trust me they're not impossible to kill. I've killed a few in my time. They are hardy though.I think the reason a lot of people don't use them to cycle is there are other cheaper fish. Just my thought anyway.

In my old 55 gal. I always had a lion in it. It never bothered any of my other fish. Really just ignored them. My lions were never that big 6-8". I had clowns too and never had a prob. So anyway, my exp has been that lions are not as aggresive as rumored.

LOL I tried to hand feed my Mexican Dragon Eel. I was 16. It worked a couple of times unitl....OUCH!!!
