unfortunately, it probably won't be the last SPS coral you lose. Acropora can be very finicky.
Not all SPS corals need the same requirements either. There are some SPS corals that don't like a whole lot of light - like montiporas, poci, stylo and hydeno... and then on the other side of that...
Where's that blizzard photo, Bang?
I don't think I would want to live in a place that has definite seasons. Here in Louisiana we have mild summer, summer, hot summer and very hot summer.
Back in the day I used to only use external overflows and then one day the siphon broke and the display tank flooded, the sump emptied and the heater cracked. The pump blew up. All while I was at work. I decided then and there that I would never own a tank that wasn't drilled.
I then moved on...
I've gone In and out of the hobby for the better part of a decade. I've had over a hundred tanks in my lifetime and I have probably cared for about as many for former customers. I have always gotten out because of financial reasons. Being a full time college student for eight years after high...
I think I am going to come up with a binder to keep track of everything. Expenses, dates, maintenance, notes, test results, graphs for test results and so on. I think it will help me be better organized.
Well, today went pretty good. I kind of got to relax a little, which is always great. I have been doing a bunch of reading on lighting systems lately and I have watched a few of the longer youtube videos featuring Mike Paletta and Sanjay Joshi. They have been testing all kinds of LEDs and stuff...
It shouldn't really bother anything too much. Are you using magnesium sulfate or magnesium chloride?
A good graduated cylinder would be even better. ;)
Is that your broodsstock setup? Are you raising clownfish?
Clownfish fry from what I always read and did,... Require a round, black container that is lit from the top. The black backgrounds make it easier for the fry to hunt and catch prey. The rounded container keeps them from catching in the...
My wife is house hunting. Which means I'm buying a house. I don't know if I want to add corals to my tank until after I move the tank or not. I guess it just depends on when we find a house we like and how everything fits together for buying it.
Bayer Advanced is used as a coral dip- as far as I know, people have only used it on SPS corals. Insects are actually pretty closely related to crustaceans - they have many of the same characteristics. Since two of the most prominent SPS "bugs" are AEFW (acro-eating flat worms) and red bugs, it...
