I run a bag of carbon roughly 500 grams constantly in my system and replace it at the first of the month. Just depends on what your trying to accomplish with it I guess.

It shouldn't bother it much, but I would clean it out the next time you clean your skimmer.

I don't think Bang Guy has had a tank in years - ever since a raccoon fell in his 900g lagoon, drowned and rotted.
