    Fish selection suggestions

I had a Clarki. It was one vicious fish. As it got older it got real ugly looking. It ended up in a tank with a blue damsel and a moray eel.

    Fish selection suggestions

I’ve never had one go rogue. The key is get a small one so it grows up on the tank. Your tank is big enough. In a small tank it won’t work.

    Fish selection suggestions

Dwarf angel, I prefer the flame. I love the watanabi angel, they may be too big though. I agree with the Yellow tang. Orchid dotty back is a great splash of color. Your tank is big enough for a maroon clown. I had a lamarks angel. It wasn’t colorful in the normal sense, black and white, but...

    Clownfish? Maybe?

Only one species of clown and unless you do ocelaris or percula only one clown fish. . I’m not sure a maroon would be a great idea. They are very aggressive and can get pretty big. If you got a really small one it may settle in and not be a problem. You do have a tank that is pretty heavily...

    Getting back into the hobby

You can get a connector for the RODI that attaches to the cold water supply line between the shut uff and the faucet. No permanent changes necessary. You’d have to run the waste line into the sink drain though. https://www.**************.com/mur-lok-ez-angle-stop-adapter.html

    Getting back into the hobby

A sump certainly would help. It could even be bigger than the tank. Doesn’t need to be fancy either I’ve seen Rubbermaid tubs used. In my opinion you could move a tank in the 40 gallon range across country. It would take some planning but it could be done. Even the fish could be moved.

    Nitrate Little High

That is a lot high but test strips are about the worst way to measure anything. I’d suggest getting a good saltwater nitrate test, either Red Sea or salifert. Then you will have an accurate result and can work from there.

I’d agree. That is also an issue with large angles.

    ID on this fish?

It is a kind of gobi I think, based on the pectoral fins.

looking for a couple new fish

Never wanted a hippo for that reason. Ended up with my tiny one (the size of a dime) accidentally. I’ve had her over 2 years and no issues. Breezed through 30 days QT then went straight into the 125. Held her own from day one. Never thought she’d make it through QT she was so small. Didn’t...

looking for a couple new fish

They are beautiful but they are also difficult and tend to be really aggressive. Larger fish are also harder to acclimate. The young ones take to captivity better. But yeah that is a pricy one.

looking for a couple new fish

I’d say maybe 4-5 8” or larger is all you can do in a 200 gallon.

Tank is Close to Cycling but...

Just be patient. It takes time and rushing will only cause problems. That pretty much is true for everything in this hobby. Patience patience patience.

looking for a couple new fish

You do t have to add them all at once. If you want big fish you can’t have a ton of them.

looking for a couple new fish

Sorry about the losses. I lost my mckoskers wrasse and Lamarks angel a couple months after I moved everybody into my new tank last year. SW Empire closed last summer so I haven’t gotten any new fish. Don’t want to mail order any in the winter. Squirrel fish get big, like a fool long...
