Trouble getting a fish to eat

Some people have hatcheries apparently I could search for them and try ask them for some. But I'd need to build or buy a hatchery setup then right? Or can you just chuck them in the refugium?

Trouble getting a fish to eat

Oh like live brine shrimp? Nah can't get that here in New Zealand unfortunately. I suppose I should just be happy he's healthy and eating something and fat. I also soak in garlic in case that entices him. Oh and he eats chaeto off the feeder clip. So tomorrow I'm gonna put a mix of nori and...

Trouble getting a fish to eat

Yeah good point the not feeding may just cause problems. I do have a foxface actually definitely don't want him liking corals! Yup I've tried brine shrimp, seafood mix and mysis. Ok I see cause it's large it's probably growing up eating macroalgae. I'll continue with my current schedule...

Trouble getting a fish to eat

Hey guys still no luck I tried some veggie flakes from Seachem and some frozen marine mix for herbivores but it basically ignores anything that isn't shaped like chaeto.. It tried nibbling a leaf then spat it out. Spoilt... My LFS says since all my fish are healthy why not stop feeding for 4-5...

Trouble getting a fish to eat

Nah I haven't I use the plain unflavored nori. Maybe I should try garlic soaking it or something. I'm gonna buy some mysis today so maybe I'll pick up a packet of it if I can find it. Do you reccomend I try different colours or maybe an algae based frozen food or flake? So many options

Thank you for the advice jay, I'll continue with the macro until he starts eating the frozen food. Can I feed him every two days or do I need macro for him every day? It's just my nitrates are 5ppm these days since I started feeding a whole cube a day and I already feed nori every second day...

Trouble getting a fish to eat

Hello everyone I wanted some advice on my Signatus doliatus (I think that's the name it's a doliatus rabbitfish AKA scribbled rabbitfish). I've had it for a week now. I notice it's still quite shy and too much activity causes it to change colour and hide. I've also noticed it gets easily scared...

    Coral hitch hiker

They are soft corals so as far as corals go they are easy to care for :) Just leave it be and see how it goes.

    Tigers and two spots

If you need a strategy to get them feeding well, I used to hide garlic soaked good under the sand for my sleeper goby to eat, then moved to squirting food into his den and then finally after 3 weeks of turmoil he eats anything now. Doesn't event leave nori for my rabbitfish...

I know just enough to hurt myself and some fish...

Haha yeah, I added my firefish last (due to availability) and now they're getting chased into their hiding hole by my bangaii! Order is important I've learned :) Strange thing is the firefish refuse to stay in they try again every 20minutes haha, and I think the bangaii is chasing less...

I know just enough to hurt myself and some fish...

You sound like you've learnt a lot :) if it helps try plan out your complete fish stock now. I did that when I began, I only ended up with 70% of it now that I've stocked my tank but I found that so helpful.

What greens can you feed a doliatus?

Hey guys My new scribbled rabbitfish isnt eating a whole lot of food even though he's a big fish and I read that giving veggies is a great way to break them into feeding. Any suggestions? Celery? And how do you guys normally prepare the vegetable beforehand?

    Feeding schedule review

Hmm yeah, I do have a lot of filter feeders actually. 100's of small feather dusters and spirorbid worms and random slugs, they will probably clean up after I'll try a cube or 3/4 of a cube a day then with the nori. And I'll just keep testing my water, thank you everyone

I know just enough to hurt myself and some fish...

Hey I just caught up on this thread. How's everything going mate? Just adding my two cents, a lot of fish store owners say every tank has ick because I believe in some places they're right the majority of tanks have ick because of poor quarantine practices. However I would like to add that I've...
