Hello I got a gold headed sleeper goby. I know this is a moderate care level fish as it needs an established sand bed and is reaearched into this to prepare my sandbed. It seems fine so far, it's only eating in one side of the tank so I'm assuming it's getting enough and doesn't need to venture...

I've been thinking about preparing my system for a mandarin goby in 2-3 months. Just realized how do I quarantine it?? Do I need to make a QT with enough copepods etc to support it? I worry if it's inadequate it'll get sick and die in there anyway.

I put in 1/5 of the algae sheet, folded up many times so it wouldn't disintegrate and fo the tank. Foxface has eaten about 1/10 of this after 5hrs, keeps nibbling on I think though but prefers the algae in my tank. Should I remove it now? He liked the mysis once he tried some

Awesome thank you! I've already got some things like random slugs and snails, bristle stars, some random teeny tiny worms, isopods and copepods. The refugium really helps but I'm definitely gonna work on improving the life in my sandbed. The only annoying thing is I can't get live sand here...

Yup it's a fine grained sand. Ok thanks Beth! So I don't have to worry about a detritus trap since I have the sand sifter plus whatever else I add in?

I just got a gold headed sleeper goby who is busy sifting away at my sand. When I do my next water change, should I still siphon the sandbed? I didn't for the past month in preparation for this guy.

Nice! I feel like continuous manual removal, feeding and water changes will eventually kill it because you'll eventually starve it out

Thanks for your input jay :) I think a foxface with 3x a week seafood is manageable. Appreciate it! I suppose once I added the foxface it will Be difficult to add smaller peaceful fish like blennies and gobies afterwards because it becomes territorial eh?

Is this for GHA? I find if you keep manually removing it from your system with good husbandry it'll eventually stop coming back. Otherwise it'll just die and provide nutrients to grow more

I cycled my first tank 4 months ago and I kept the lights off, helped stop algae blooms until I got my nutrients under control. I suggest lights off if you can and you don't have any thing needing light on the live rock. If you want you could manually remove the algae, but it'll probably grow...

I took your advice 2quills and removed the rock 5 days ago, I removed some bubble algae 4 days ago and I haven't seen anymore bubble algae since. I find this very interesting, the bubble algae only grew on the live rock and not the other rock which was becoming live rock. Must Be something...
