    Cyano is dying!

Hmm maybe I'm wrong but I found turkey baster blowing made my cyano spread more? It would pop up on other rocks after I did that. Yeah I hear bubble algae is fine if you remove regularly, but can explode if you don't watch it. IM finding 2-3 bubbles a week which I remove.

    Cyano is dying!

Oh yup! Maybe try caulerpa? (Ofc certain species have a risk of going sexual). My caulerpa grows crazy. Haha cyano is gone but I have bubble algae now!! Well I had 3-4 bubbles which I removed without popping, and nothing has grown back now so I'm hoping it's under control. Fish are good! My...

    Cyano is dying!

Hey one-fish if you're still around, how's your cyano control going? I just siphoned my last few spots yesterday and nothing has grown back.

    Cyano is dying!

Sounds good! Another random question, I've noticed I have bubble algae growing on especially one rock in my sump. Which happens to be live rock that I added 4 months ago. The bubble algae doesn't grow in my DT. Is this because of low flow in the refugium? I didn't think it would be due to...

    Cyano is dying!

My cyano bloom in my 4 month old reef tank is dying down. The areas which I siphoned off the rocks don't grow back anymore. In fact the GHA clumps are going away too, the snails have started eating them all of a sudden??. I also have patches of coralline algae popping up, phosphates 0-0.03...

    Tube worm ID

I just removed it, thanks guys! Couldn't get a better picture.

    Tube worm ID

Hey guys! Found only one of these little critters growing on a piece of live rock that's been in the tank for 3 months. I'm having trouble finding online the difference between a relatively beneficial or harmless tube worm and the vermetid snail which I hear can become quite a pest. This worm...

    Beginning coral parameters

! Good point! So it's basically just iodine, and there's nothing else special in Reef Dip? Seachem is good at selling simple objects for a high price haha What dip do you use personally?

    Increasing iso/amphi/copepod population

Understood, so it's like a natural population, They didn't have many predators before so they reproduced to a certain amount. But now I have predators, but they still have a sufficiently good food source because the tank is full of detritus, given some time their population will grow to meet...

    Beginning coral parameters

I see, thanks Joe, since I'm a beginner I think I'll stick to the big three for now. I'll keep my fingers crossed that between my iodine coral dip (just a bit which covers the coral) and Red Sea salt mix I have enough of the trace elements entering my tank haha

    Increasing iso/amphi/copepod population

Speeding up isn't a concern, I'm more concerned with will they ever increase at all if I don't increase feeding? But as you suggested they'll increase over time so I can just wait for that to happen. Thanks Joe

How important is it to test and dose iodine and strontium? I don't have those test kits.

    Beginning coral parameters

Hello guys! I just got my Red Sea pro foundation kit today (after the last faulty batch this one works), and I have a few questions. 1) I'm planning on a softie tank. My tests are Ca-410 Alk-7.6dKH Mg-1200. Are these acceptable for a softie tank? 2) These values were the day after my usual 10%...

    Increasing iso/amphi/copepod population

I see, so just wait till the population grows. I feed 1/8 of a cube of frozen each day, and I syringe feed a few drops at a time so the fish eat most of it (95% or so). I was wondering if I fed more food say 1/4 a day, the excess food would mean more pods in my tank? Or is it more likely that...

    Increasing iso/amphi/copepod population

Hey guys! 400L system, 1 blue sided fairy wrasse, 2 occelaris clowns and 1 bangaii cardinal. Live rock, 2 soft coral, macroalgae refugium with 23.5hr lighting. After adding my fairy wrasse my pod population is only enough to sustain him and the bangaii. I definitely wouldn't have enough pods to...

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

Won't more CuC increase bioload and not help combat red slime?

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

Hey One-fish! So ive reduced the lighting to 6hrs, but put it back up to 7hrs today. Cyano growth has slowed (I take pictures before water changes and compare how much cyano grows in my tank every 2 weeks), but the reduced lifting isn't killing it. I think the reasons it is slowing are mostly...

    Cyano and changing GFO

Ok thanks for that! I have a Nicely priced GFO here called continuum phos fe, $23USD worth in a filter bag should last me 3-6 months, so I think that's reasonable. I'm trying to avoid reactors hahaha... I think I'll take my GFO out and test my phosphate levels, if they rise then I can see if...
