    Cyano and changing GFO

We have a similar bulk GFO available. What's the cost per month for GFO? And how much did the reactor cost?

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

Actually another thing, I learnt that most plants like land based plants need the dark period to grow and regenerate certain compounds overnight. But this may not apply to algae in exactly the same way either. Lol yeah my chaeto and caulerpa is now following yours 2Quills :D actually I think...

    Cyano and changing GFO

Just battling cyano here in my 400L, with live rock, 2 soft corals, and 4 fish (2 clowns, 1 bangaii, 1 fairy wrasse). Has a macroalgae refugium with 24/7 lighting, tank lights on for 7 hours a day. Tank is 2.5 months post cycle. I finally got my new Salifert phosphate test kit from BRS. Now...

    Any wrasse experts

I say get 2, if you get 4 you're gonna reduce the chance of all 4 surviving if they fight. Harder on your wallet and your fish. Better to get two. Try it out. If it doesn't work then re-evaluate why it didn't work and possibly try two again. More chance of success I think?

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

Hey Geridoc! Yeah I agree with you because that's what I always learnt at uni too. I've had a reverse photoperiod for the past 2 months. I switched it to 24hrs on suggestion from 2Quills after I trimmed too much macroalgae off and I also have a cyano bloom going. I've found the macroalgae...

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

By the way one fish there's some really weird stuff happening with my cyano. Since I reduced lighting in the display and made refugium 24/7, -the cyano on the rocks has slowed growth, -it's started growing on the glass and sand only now (and again really slowly) -my GHA stopped spreading, so...

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

Hmm I see! Yeah my clowns and bangaii wake up with any type of light too, but not my wrasse, he waits I'll 4pm for the tank lights, until then he hides in his rock. Oh ok in that case, it sounds like starting my lights late in the day and finishing at 10:30 at night should have much impact on...

    Any wrasse experts

Bulk Reef Supply has a channel on YouTube, I follow them regularly. They did a series called 52 weeks of reefinh where they set up a 160gallon tank with the science to back up yheir choice. In one of the recent brs160 update videos they talk about how they've had success with twinspot gobies...

    Aquarium lighting vs ambient light

Ok I've been thinking about my aquarium lighting schedule since I've got this fairy wrasse since he sleeps the moment the lights go out. Basically we like to see the fish at night when we get home. So I usually start the lights at 4pm and finish at 10:30pm (my schedule is only 6hrs atm to...

    Any wrasse experts

I've just been researching his too since I recently Got a wrasse. As stated above harems are fine, but usually best if added all together or females first then male. Some different species of wrasses can be kept together and some can not. So research whichever ones you like and see if they work

    Refugium and Copepods

I got copedpods from my DT (came in on liverock) and then through my skimmer and into my what used to be dead rock. I then added macroalgae which boosted the population which I'm thankful for because I have a wrasse now. So my tank is 3.5 months old and the skimmer won't stop them, these...

    Feeding a Fairy Wrasse

Ahh that's cool! Bizzare he came out the Second the lights went on. And whenever I turn off the lights he goes to sleep literally a few second sounds after. Such good bedtime routine! Ok so because my tank is brand new I'm feeding the tank once daily so I don't overwhelm the bioload(sometimes I...

    Feeding a Fairy Wrasse

Thanks 2 quills, I don't need to worry about 1/4-1/2 a cube a day then. Yeah I'm picking up some marine tucker (it's a seafood blend some local guy makes) since I only have mysis and pellets. Ahh my beautiful wrasse crawled under a rock and slept there last night. He's hiding there now. I'm...

    Feeding a Fairy Wrasse

Thank you Beth! Yes my plan was to start quarantining after 5 fish, but as I won't be adding anymore fish till march I'll start researching how to set one up now. Is a 10gallon tank enough? I have an empty one in my garage. Since the shop's quarantine for 30 days here, I wanted to add some of...

    Feeding a Fairy Wrasse

Short story: the fairy wrasse is 4x the size of my clown, how do I work out how much to feed it? It zooms around and eats so quickly. I'm feeding once daily. Long story: So I have a 400L tank, 2 clowns, 2 soft corals, macroalgae refugium, live rock sand purigen gfo and skimmer. Tank is now 3.5...

I take back what I said. Did some research after seeing its shell is flat, it's a stomatella invertebrate.
