    Nocturnal astrea snails

24.5 to 25.5 degrees Celsius. (76-78 Fahrenheit) Hmm ok, I did it over 2 hours, 20mL Of water at a time with a syringe and bag in tank. I can never find it in the day, it's deep in the live rock somewhere. But once lights off it comes out within 30-60mins and starts moving everywhere.

    Green hair algae battle

Here it is Sorry that's the best my camera can do. Refugium lights are 18 hours a day to give the chaeto 'rest time'. Ahh ok this is not stuff at all, very soft and wavy. Pulls off very easily from the attached structure. And if it says green hair then that's fine. I'm sure slowly with the...

    Nocturnal astrea snails

Added an astrea snail, assumed it died because I read that inverts are hard to keep for beginners bad I didn't see it for 3-4 days. Anyway found out it was coming out at night. Just curious, is this normal for marine snails? They're nocturnal? I supppse defense wise for a slow animal it makes...

    Green hair algae battle

Ok ignore my panic. I found a few posts online, it's not bryopsis. What I have is fern like, but not fern like enough to be bryopsis. Lol someone described it as "new tank weirdness". Lol sorry noob panicking. Anyway yes, stick to regular maintance and ill keep doing what I'm doing. Thank you

    Green hair algae battle

I see, so patience is key. Actually I'm a little concerned, the long wavy strands look like little ferns up close. When I google pictures, it doesn't look like bryopsis or GHA, like something in between. I'll chuck a picture up tomorrow sometime... Ahh maybe I'll have a bryopsis battle on hand...

    Green hair algae battle

Got a nice little collection of diatoms and green hair algae growing in my new (added fish like a week ago) tank. 400L tank, 2 clowns, one leather coral, one random astrea, not gonna add anything till algae is controlled. So the diatoms should just disappear, and the green hair algae will need...

Blue chromis bite/attack the smaller one. Need advice

I have seen a few LFS's around here with either groups of 6-7, or 1 single chromis. I believe the larger groups dispels aggression better so you have a few fish being picked on instead of one.

Starting my first saltwater tank, need help

Consider biomedia in your filter area if it fits. Maximizing biofiltration to help stabilize your tank.

If you could build your dream tank ....

For me it seems just automation with many redundancy. I don't mind a small tank, but I would love one with less maintanence. Dosing pumps, ATO, controller, timers etc... But of course, more gadgets = more redundancy needed.

Starting my first saltwater tank, need help

Hello! There are more experienced members here than myself. I've just set up my 400L reeftank with some clowns, so I'll tell you what I know and we can go from there :) 1) most people keep 1 pound per gallon. But they tend to add more rock sometimes as they want more coral. I personally have...

    Feeding clownfish

Also they're picky about the mysis they spit out 10 pieces for every one they eat. The pellet pieces they eat them all. They're tank bred.

    Feeding clownfish

Hey guys just feeding my clownfish for the first few times. So I have 2 clowns (and a random leather frag my friend gave me lol..). I feed the two juvenile clowns daily. So I'm feeding 4-6 SMALL omega one pellets crushed up (they can't swallow them whole) a day. Every 2-3 days I want to feed...

    New tank algae

Got two clownfish in there and they're doing great! Had a slight hiccup at the start when one choked on a pellet, but it eventually dissolved and the gills went back to normal. Gonna get smaller pellets lol. Anyway, nitrates 20ppm :) I've finally got diatoms and GHA popping up. Yay! Now what's...

    End of cycle + Questions

The bin was sealed, and no water flow. So nice stagnant water. I have some oxygen test kits from an old science fair experiment and it dropped quite low after 4 days, not 0 though, I'm assuming from the aerobic bacteria using it all up. But I must've just killed most of the bacteria when I...
