Yes, I believe Shaving Brush is one of the alga they use to steal chloroplasts. I found a pic of one of mine munching on Grape Caulerpa.

    Frustrated adding new fish

84F is fine for those fish provided it's stable and doesn't drop when the lights go out. I agree Butterflies are tough to keep. I'm glad the Cowfish is surviving. They tend to take out all of the fish in thetank when they die.

    lettuce nudibranch

I kept a colony of E. crispata Lettuce Slugs for years in my lagoon. They require good light and from what I have seen they prefer Bryopsis but will eat manytypes of Macro Algae. They require occational feasting on Halimeda to replenish their stolen chloroplasts. I'll look for a picture of...

    200+ gal DT upgrade

I agree that gathering some of the top 1/2" of sand is very beneficial. I would definitely not store any of the old saltwater.

They will snap at both of those to get them out or away from the cave. If the Hermit or Snail keeps going into the cave the Pistol Shrimp will kill them. Usually they back off right away once the Shrimp starts snapping at them. This is just my personal experience and observations.

There are lots of different Pistol Shrimp. Most are violent predators. For a Goby pairing I recommend the Tiger Pistol Shrimp which, unlike the name would imply, is quite peaceful.

    Help!

Kinda like the difference between a Puma and a Cougar.I miss Ophiura, she was a Starfish expert. I mean, a real expert, not a Holiday Inn resident. My understanding is that there is no difference between Serpent Starfish and Brittle Starfish. They are common names and can be used...

    Random Lack of O2? Help?

It increases slime production. The theory is that it adds additional protection against bacteria. The Aloe is probably harmless but it's hardly natural for saltwater animals.

Look into the light diffusers. They will deter jumping and provide excellent airflow.

    blue/green chromis

I've studied Banggai quite a bit. And although they seem to gather together the males will not get within 2 feet of each other without fighting. I wouldn't recommend trying to keep a shoal of Banggai with out a tank having a very large footprint. Here's a picture of mine. The container they...

    Help!

I'm leaning toward osmotic shock or low salinity. I'm having some trouble getting any answers so I'm not much help.

    Help!

The damage is consistent with osmotic shock or starvation. Most sand sifting starfish will eat Mysis or other meaty bits of seafood placed in the sand.

    Help!

When did you last do a water change and do you check salinity before replacing. What is the salinity of your tank water? When you feed do you place krill and Mysis in the sand for the Starfish? What do you mean by "there's plenty to sift through"?
