The build on the sump has begun. Here's the 35g with the top and bottom frame removed. Here it is with the front panel removed. You can see the 45g and the 55g in the left back ground. And here it is with one of the side panels removed. Coming along nicely.

It's been over two months since my last post. The move into the new house is finished and the tank is in it's new spot. It's a finished basement sitting on a concrete foundation so weight isn't going to be a problem. Just have to hardwire the built in breaker to the main breaker.

You don't need it taller than 14 in because with a skimmer you only need 8 to 12 in depth.

I've always been a duel overflow fan myself.

I opted to put my overflows on the back glass only because if bottom overflows spring a leak for any reason the whole display can drain out.

Oh, and dont use ball casters. Use wheel casters. Ball casters won't support that much weight.

I dont really understand your question about the center 2x4 across the supporting 2x4. Could you clarify? Casters. I'd put 6 on. All turning with 2 locking at opposite corners. Tank center brace. If he powder coats it it might be ok.

Not necessarily. With a sump, the position of the overflows determines the water level. Higher/lower return flow just determines the turn over rate of the entire system. The over flows keep the display at a relatively consistent level. Water levels should only change in the sump which is where...

You need to restrict the flow from the return pump. Its pumping in more water to the display than the overflow/bulkhead can handle.
