    Starting a 55 gallon tank

Aduvall, chromis are more than likely wild caught with cynide or a synthetic cynide and have health issues thereafter. It's not uncommon for chromis to die after being sold at the LFS.

Filtration for my 75 gallon long

Glass tops decrease pH which is bad for tank inhabitants. That is the reason why we are recommending a mesh screen. There are also fish that commit sushi by jumping. When a fish cost $50-100, you don't want them jumping out.

    New 75g Reef Tank

The drain box was pretty dry this morning so I went ahead and set the tank back on the stand. I fit it close to the wall and it is great where it is at. I'm happy with that outcome. I have to purchase a couple of adapters and I'll be well on my way to plumbing this thing tonight. I'm...

    Removing sump epoxy glass guide

If it's siliconed in and all hard surfaces are glass, it's as simple as using a razor blade or sharp knife and cutting it out. Gotta be careful though. If it is epoxy - because epoxy is different from silicone, It might could just be tapped out. But more than likely it's silicone.

    Starting a 55 gallon tank

Is this for a FOWLR or what? Marineland makes great hang on back filters. I have used them for years. Make sure you start fresh. Fresh filters and fresh carbon. If your heater was rated for a 55g tank for freshwater, it should also be good for saltwater. Temperature stability is important in...

    Snake's Guide to Cycling

Yeah, I met the guy. He was actually very quiet and reserved from what I observed. I know he knows a lot about the hobby and have seen a few videos, but after you cover the basics and a lot of the advanced techniques, then your left with talking about different fish and corals and products...

So I ordered a box. Gonna get some wedges cut and the stand leveled up today. Also gotta go by and...

    Snake's Guide to Cycling

Not what,... Old? Lol Anyhoo, no one person is right. No one knows it all. I still try to learn every day and ask questions. Stirring up a shallow sandbed to shake loose some detritus may not be a bad thing. Bacteria are 1000x smaller then the smallest eukaryotic cell and you can't suck them...

    New 75g Reef Tank

Got my apex jr. Installed. The monitor is set up on the wall next to the light switch. I got the temp probe plugged in but I forgot which outlets are which, so I have to plug it in to the computer and change things up. I wish that I could afford the bus bar for the Apex ATO and the pH probe...

It's now world class silicone skills. Lol!!! I Used a lot of excess silicone because I don't want to have to cut it out and do this again. Lol. Going to work on the electrical tonight. I'm considering setting up the fuge and water change system later on since it needs to be leveled and styro'd.

Filtration for my 75 gallon long

It does cut down on evaporation, but it also inhibits oxygen exchange and causes carbonic acid build up because of excessive CO2 from the respiration of the animals within the tank. It basically lowers your pH, which is not good for the health of the inhabitants. If you need a top, consider...

Filtration for my 75 gallon long

I would opt for an eshoppes hang on back protein skimmer over a seaclone. Seaclones are crap and not worth the plastic they are made of. A 75g tank needs at least 1000gph of internal flow, and it's not as easy to throw in the biggest powerhead and hope for the best. I suggest reading some...
