if you can i would run both. you can run the skimmer as your only filtration but i would only do that if you have a reef set up. fish only tend to need a little more help IMO.

i think i might try a yellow tang next and see how that goes. i also read that you never buy baby tangs and the tang that died was a baby so maybe i should try one that is bigger?

well i was told these practises are still legal in the philippines wher most of these butterfly fish are caught. i havent spent any time looking into this its just something i heard at my lfs and maybe there is some truth to this.

dont they use chemicals to catch them in the wild. i heard this talking to people at my lfs.

any other ideas? i will mention the stomach looked a little pinched.

nope no ich. and i did lower my salinity to make it closer to my lfs water but it was not exact at all.

tank looks awsome! the tang will like the upgrade ;). the clean up crew will probally need to be big but i would start with 10 of each snail and add more if needed. you could also throw in a star or two. you could probaly throw in two or three good sized fish with what you already have. idk...

oh i found out i have exactly 175gph of flow in my qt.

any other ideas?

you know that puffer can be aclimated to full saltwater.

i dont have a skimmer in my qt or dt. my corals seem very happy so i never saw the need for a skimmer. my qt is only 15g with 100gph flow. do you think that may have been the problem. my dt is a different story with flow though.

so on monday i bought a yellow mimic tang and a purple dottybach. i was originally gona buy a kole tang but when i got to my lfs i saw the yellow mimic tang and liked it so much more that i decided to go with the yellow mimic insted of the kole. so i picked one that looked best and it was about...

this is the way i would look at it. all triggers are good with corals but non are 100% safe with inverts.

my triggers dont pick at coral. non of them really do.

or maybe you just keep that one big one and maybe one other. that will get the job done. then you will have room for a trigger :D
