hi, congrats on the new upgrade. I differ slightly to other opinions with regards to the move. I have moved a 240 gallon and a 400 gallon.
1. if your going to use old sand, wash rinse and wash again. The amount of trapped phosphates and nitrates will blow your mind(even at 6 months of age) . I...
Seems to be very mixed opinions on if wet or dry skim works better. Which do you use & why ? What way do you think removes more crud from your tank ? How often do you clean skimmer head. / cup ?
Picked up a few new pieces today, only been in tank an hour so hoping they will look better tomorrow. Love the clam, very different to our current one, also my first acan, will have to research that one as I am not familiar with them at all. This is our second elegance so we know that will be...
The water clarity is fantastic, But unfortunately we had one of our Gyers stop working and were without proper flow for about 16 days, since then the sand bed is absolutely filthy, well have to vacuum next change. The tangs are messy fish and I find without the proper turbulent flow to keep...
Try wrapping some seaweed around a few little rocks with a rubber band and place in cracks, or on sand bed at back of tank were he is pecking at algae. Sometimes new fish wont come and eat with other because there is a hive of activity they are not used to yet. Give him time. The fact he is...
Ok. thanks for the pic. my bad eyes. That is not a goni as I thought in original pictures. Thanks for the follow up. Your fish all looking very healthy, tank extraordinarily clean,, even your rocks look so clean. Nice tank. Wish mine looked that clean. Great job .
HI @ClaptonsGhost , what a great shot. lovely and crips and clear. Is that a goni i see high in the tank left had side, if it is hows it going for you all the way up there ? WOW you sand bed is clean as,,,,,,secret please ?
I just soaked blades in white wine & poured my self a glass of bloody vinegar. Worse thing is I have no wine left that was the last of it. So really not happy now ! And TIP & TRICK is - don't use white wine to remove coraline cause it don't work.
Sorry. Didn't know where to post this. But I suppose could count as a tip. Story as follows. I am having a bad morning. Everything's going wrong. I am really busy so before lunch I just put my two tunze cleaner blades into vinegar to get rid if coraline algea all over them. Made myself a...
We are wanting the new giesmann Arora. Best of both worlds. Get the great growth & health from my corals with T5s & aesthetic colours that I like for viewing with the LEDs :))
Just I find washing once a week instead of every 2 days much better. Get old bucket. ( with lid ). Water & vinegar. When remove socks soak dirty ones in this bucket until all gathered for a wash. Kept wet they wash a lot easier than drying out. Warning though boy that bucket stinks when you open...
Would def go PVC. If plumbing is hard to get to ( back of tank ) put as many unions as to can so if snail etc causes blockage you can easily unscrew instead of cutting & glueing. Take look at the bean animal set up. Soooo quiet & flood proof 100%. Easy to do.
I have 6 filter socks I rotate 2 at a time every 2 days. I put in washing machine on extra heavy cycle double rinse. No soaps obviously just a little vinegar. Then hang on line. Turn inside out first. & get as much of the big bits out first Wash inside out too.
Really glad it worked for you ! I wouldn't even attempt a sump so well done. If you think about it if pump returns 1900 an hour it will do it regardless the gap in between baffles surely. I used to have 6 foot overflow 6000lt return. I still run 6000lt return but overflow is only 2 feet now...
Wasn't trying to show off. Sorry if you took it that way. Apparently this is the way to square baffles perfectly. Doesn't matter on what size. It works every time. I honestly thought this would help !
