    SocalNano24s Tank Diary

Ok Note to self; just traded out my chemipure elite and cleaned out the chaeto. Tank is doing well other than I'm having the periodic hair algae take over that seems to happen roughly every 7-8 months (could just be from needing new chemipure though) Which I think means its time to change out...

    Brown Monti

I think it may be too low under the metal halides. Mine is about 2" from the surface under my PC's in my nano. Maybe try bringing it from 10 or 12 to 5 or 6 to see if it makes a difference. Also I keep mine in the highest flow area in the tank

    New 5 gallon reef

I'm very interested in what you do with this tank. It looks like it is coming along well. I have a 5.5 set up as well. I don't have any powerheads, but I have a remora Skimmer and a biowheel HOB. Do you like hte Korallia nanos? I was thinking about looking into the blowers that work through the...

    Lawnmower blenny attacking nassarius snail

do you feed your LMB algae sheets? My nassarius snails go on a feeding frenzy for the algae strips once the lights turn out, I'm sure my LMB takes notice, but the snails are usually sleeping all day, just a thought.

    JaxFishGirl's 75 Gallon

Tank looks great. Cool coloration on the live rock, my 5.5 pico tank live rock came looking like that with white ceramic looking covering and the green tint, not sure what the off white coloring is from, maybe some form of corraline. Now its finally purpled up after a few months. Your LMB looks...

    New Pico Tank Build

oh yeah and now that I have a beast of a skimmer I'm consiering getting another small fish; any thoughts for a 5.5, typically I'd say no but that skimmer is supposed to be good for up to a 40 gallon so I think it could handle two fish. Any thoughts on a good one to go with a skittish firefish

    New Pico Tank Build

Ok I finally got a chance to go through and rearrange my rockwork to hide the piping from the revised filters. The skimmer is working; and it has started to pull out a moderate amount of skim, and the bubble residue and liquid in the cup is sort of a brown/yellow color. So I think that means its...

    New Pico Tank Build

Yeah, I think I will. Just may try it out on the side of my nano for a day, see what it pulls out of the water. But that one has a good refug..... this tanks just had the marineland HOB previously.

    Anyone Watch Lost Last Night?

These are some great points; I hadn't thought about the plane at the end symbolizing that they had all died at the beginning. I was dissapointed that they didn't have an omniscient narrator at the end; like Jacob's mother or even Locke explaining some of the additional questions. Like what the...

    New Pico Tank Build

yay, there was brown residue all over the inside of the collection cup this morning and the cyano is already diminishing :) Question: Skimmers do not have to be running full time right? In addition I can temporarily run this skimmer on my 24 nano if I wanted to periodically to help that tank...

    New Pico Tank Build

Ok so I got a Remora Nano Skimmer; keeping in mind that I am going to be able to use it in a future tank upgrade. (for the 40 I'm goin to combine my nano and this into eventually) But yeah, its up and running and seems to be working pretty good; still a bit loud and bubbly but it sounds like...

    New Pico Tank Build

I have to say a bad word: Cyano! Sigh; I've been feeding mixtures of mysis and arctipods. Apparantley I either haven't been dilluting them enough and now I've got a nice 4" circular bed of cyano on the sand. I did two water changes in the last week and added chemi pure elite to my marineland...

Please help!! i dont know what just happened!!

Well first off its not enough to just "float fish" all this does is acclimate them to the water temperature. In addition you need to add water from your tank into the bag water. this can be done in a bucket via drip acclimation (a small diameter air hose line acting as a siphon with a knot at...
