    Blastos & Duncans

Yeah. Duncan's grow like crazy. Here is a pic of mine when I first got them. The pic is dated 4/1/2010 and there were 3 little heads. Here is one from 9/28/2010. They had grown several new heads in a little under 6 months. Here is a fairly recent photo. I just counted and there are at least...

    Culturing Phytoplankton

The water/phyto was always a light translucent green right after a split. It would darken and become opaque enough that I couldn't see the light coming through the bottle from the bulb after a week.

    Culturing Phytoplankton

I did this for several months, but stopped because I was worried about all of the fertilizer that I was putting in my tank. It's super easy to do. Here's how I did it: - Mixed up a batch of saltwater to a SG of 1.019 - Rinsed out a couple of emtpy 2 liter bottles of Pepsi. - Drilled two holes...

    Snake's 20g Nano Build thread

I used Dr G's phyto as a starter culture and it worked out pretty well. DT's smells too much like ass IMO.

    Snake's 20g Nano Build thread

I was culturing phyto for a while. It was really easy, but I was concerned about all of the miracle grow that I was putting in my tank. I'm sure it wasn't getting completely depleted before I split and I was worried it would get too concentrated as time went on. I did end up with some massive...

    SKIMMER PROBLEMS AGAIN

Make sure the pump doesn't have an air bubble around the impeller. Smaller pumps often get air trapped in them and won't work till you shake the bubble out.
