    40 Breeder Undecided Biotope

Just put in my order for CUC, and mangroves for the mangrove tank(the one you asked why the sump was sitting on it). Also went to the LFS and got some GSP to cover the left side, and a frogspawn frag.

    40 Breeder Undecided Biotope

Yeah I'm back! Had to take a break from the tank stuff for a while as school picked up. 18 units plus 2 jobs leaves no room for my tank. Now with moving, decided to bring it back down to a more manageable size for me. Really sucks cause I'd love to keep the 90, but it's got to go. I'll...

    40 Breeder Undecided Biotope

He's busy keeping his pot clean! I'm looking for another, I lost the large female I had him pair up with about 2 months ago. Added more live rock and all the corals from my 90, all softies for now. No love for my tank, but I like posting pictures...haha

    40 Breeder Undecided Biotope

No cycle...pulling live rock right out of my 90 gallon that's been up almost a year. Live rock before that was used and up and running for who knows how long. This will be my second time doing this method. Had livestock from the 90 in there for 3 days. Before did water tests. PH 8.2...

    40 Breeder Undecided Biotope

So about 3 weeks ago I bought a 40 breeder, called my father to start on the stand, and started my new tank. I'm moving everything from my 90 to this 40, and selling the 90 I'll post pictures first, and open this up for suggestions. Couple goals for this tank is to display symbiosis. Multiple...

If you're this far, using self tapping screws is stupid. haha, I mean, if you're already going the extra mile of drilling, might as well tap them.

    Another Tank: 90 gallons

Handbanana: Thanks. The fuge actually just got planted with Oar Grass. Hopefully it'll take off, but I'm going to try to refrain from posting pictures till it's settled in. Denniscoy: Give it all the light you can.

    PLANTS

Yes, I agree with the point that you are making which is there should be a plant section on there. But on a competely side note, plant, or macro algae? Huge difference and I hate it when people don't notice such.

    For those considering LED lighting.

There are some concerns for specific ranges of color patterning that the corals will start to turn brownish. I believe, and hopefully can prove this after a couple experiments, that the different spectrums we are offering with LEDs are causing the SPS corals to brown out, and in fact we need to...

    Neptunes 72" Custom LED system.

Yes. I built my frame after I had all the LEDs in place, with associated wiring. I found I had to pull a couple off to have the heatsink fit properly, as I didn't account for the size of the lip I was using on my Aluminum. I'd definantly recomend having the heatsink mounted onto your frame...

    Diy led

Ok guys, a little update. Got my driver to finally work. Although the current is way under rated, at least I know the problem. My current setting resisitor is 1000 times too big...but, at least I'm not blowing any chips up. Thought I'd take a couple progress pics so far of this way too long...

Go return those steel brackets and get aluminum. The saltwater will absolutely eat those things away.

You probably wont get a confirmation from the heatsinks. Mine where at my door before the money was even out of my bank. I wouldn't worry about them, as they are very efficient.

LED lights...why doesn't anyone do this?

From what I remember about the guy who tried this, way too much work, for too little output, no matter what he did. Great idea, and at first I myself tried it, but not the best option.

    Diy led

There are a couple ways you can do this, and since it is late at night, I'm gonna post a very general response, let you google some stuff, and then reply to any further questions. Most people that are DIYing their own dimmer circuits, are using wall warts in conjunction with a simple POT...
