I am in the midst of setting up a QT tank and had a rather simple and ignorant question about cycling. If I use say, 15% of the water in my main tank to fill up my QT tank, than won't the QT tank already be cycled? The water will have the necessary bacteria - just as it was in the main tank...

Hey BeachBum, Did you get any new info on your problem? I'm having what I think is the same issue with my percula and pseudo. Each fish has about 5 spots, only on the fins, that are about the size of a salt grain - but irregularly shaped, fuzzy, and white. It doesn't seem to be affecting them...

damn it, i really wish i had a digital camera. anyway, I drew a crude image of what it looks like. the oval shaped thing is the mollusk shell. I have a toadstool that is growing from within it....like a mushroom in a pot. those little barnacle like things that i drew are where the anemones are...

after searching through other posts, I have a feeling that these aren't aptasia. They are clear and white, as opposed to brown. They don't really have a base, they seemingly grow out of these hard protrusions of the shell, and only tentacles are visible. I'll get a picture up as soon as i can.
