i was always told the 6,500 works the best. the 10,000 also works but, if your buying this for your fuge just get the 6,500. it works good for me. i have it over my 10g nano for now(until i can get it back in my fuge). and it seems to do very well
on my 55g i have 1 emperer 400 and an aqua clear 110(modded for a fuge) and it seems to do very well. i also have a protein skimmer but for your size tank that wont be needed.
so i read somewhere on the internet that ppl are using spray foam mixed with some LR to make there aquascape. it that even possible to do that? cuz if it is i might be able to save me some big money later on down the road. how does it work? does it take place of needing a large amount of LR...
im not 100% sure on what it does but after i took my bio-wheel off my tanks nirate droped by 5, bringing me back down to zero. i didnt change anything else other then removing the wheel. so it is true
i have 2 clowns in my 10g that i have had set up for almost 2 months now. it is a bit of a challenge to get all the peramiters right. one little move in the wrong direction and i have to do a water change. i am used to the larger tanks where little things dont make this big of a difference. if...
you could probly leave most of the base rock and just add the LR on top of your current rock. but i would try and get alot of that base out of there and clean it all off then add it back in later. that way it all looks very nice and newish
i dont really know if they would be fine in a seahorse tank seeing as how i dont have one. but i do know that the red ones are very peiceful. they do like to be kept in pairs. i dont know how mean horses can get(if they even do) but if they are peiceful then i would think you should be fine...
sk8 i would keep a few gallons of saltwater handy just incase you amon. spikes. if you see it spiking you mgiht be able to save the firefish(from dieing). just do a quick 5 gallon water change and see if it helps. if the amonia gets to high at or above .5 you might have some problems with him. i...
my GF's old eclipse used to do soemthing similar. she used it for gold fish and it only went about half way across. and the filter needed to be replace like once a week. it wouldnt make it to the 2 week mark cuz it got way to dirty, cuz it wasnt working at full potential. hope that helps
i wont buy a refer. Nova cuz i had one and they dont/didnt come with a warrenty and mine only lasted 6 months. something burned out in the light itself. so now im forced to buy a new one. i got mine for the *bay site they had. i called them and they said with it being refer. unit that there is...
im gonna guess on this price range but it will probly be a bit more:
+$1000.00 & here is why,
$200 for a good skimmer
$200 for a nice sump(unless you make one thats nice but probly same range)
+$500(unless you find it used. this includes stand)
and that is just some of the stuff you would need...
i would still try and swap it out just because of the algee problems that it can cause. but $15.00 isnt to bad of a price. i guess you could try it an see if you have any luck. your still probly gonna have to buy atleat 1# of LS if you dont buy LR to start your cycle.
did you buy that no-curing stuff?
if so you can return it cuz it cost like $40.00 for the bag and for a good bag of aggrogate its like $15.00. + that stuff doesnt have the benifical creatures in it that 1# of real LS would give you.
1# of LS is like $5.00 at LFS and it comes with free...
before you even think about adding the aggrogate you need to wash it. there is no option on that. there is so much junk in those bags its not even funny. if you dont wash it your water will be clowdy for a few days compaired to hours. as far as a cycle i dont think it would start one(im not...
ok so im building a retrofit MH light on the 20g and i am trying to figure out how high i should mount the MH over the tank. its a 150w fixture. i plan on building it inside of a canopy with an open back and 2 computer fans pulling in fresh air. i will be pulling of the glass top and putting on...
dang it i just ordered the stuff last night. i gues si will have to use it on a bigger fuge, in the future. im glad i got it on the bay for $15.00 insteed of $30.00. o well
to stop the smell you could line the back/side with 1/4" cedar panels. it should get ride of the tank smell( i think) looks like your gonna have a nice little set up there.
another way to get rid of the smell is to run a carbon filter. some ppl will run them 2 or 3 days a month, but i personally...
[RONNIE] i would personally go with the MH's/sunpod. i have a 20g that i am building a retroing a MH light into it with 2 T5's. the only reason i am doing this is because i know that MH's are the best and that you will probly want to upgrade them eventaully anyway. so if you can get the sunpod i...
