New frag tank - buffer "precip"?

I would think that if you are even concerned about it then it has to go. If the water is stable, chances are this is not contributing to the stability. More than likely it is buffer that didn't dissolve. If it actually persipitated the tank wouldn't be stable right now. Siphon it out and see if...

    Stupid suction cups!!!

Ahhhhhhhh, the I hate my suction cups thread. I too dislike suction cups, this is why I switched to neodynimum magnets. You can get these at Kjmagnetics.com, or where I got mine from gaussboys.com. They come in different strengths. Very strong and if plasic coated will not rust. Mine have been...

Please Help! Possible bleach residue in tank...

Agree on using carbon. You did good by adding dechlorinator to the tank. Also, turn on the skimmer and empty it . The carbon will really help. Good luck. But, if the fish and especially the inverts are ok chances are the tank will be fine, As far as the live rock, should be fine, but I would...

    Anyone ever had this starfish?

I bought mine from saltwerfish.com. So, if it was something different, I am not sure. I looked at all of my pictures that I have saved....... a lot!!, and couldn't find one on the starfish. I am pretty sure it was not a linkia though. Linkias tend to bend a lot, and this one was always pretty...

    Anyone ever had this starfish?

Mine was easily 4 inches tip to tip, but bought him at 3 inches. So in the time that I had him didn't really grow that much. My move took 13 hours to take down and set up a full reef system. Much rock and a lot of coral. I probably did things wrong, but only lost the red starfish, and a colt...

    Anyone ever had this starfish?

Yes, I actually had one of these. Had it in my 46g tank for about a year, then moved it to the 125g, about 7 months. Did awesome in both. But, unfortunately did not make the move to the new house. (it died when acclimating to the tank, its holding bucket got really cold. Probably not enough...

what will be better in 2 month?

You have a very good lfs there. Kudos to them!! Most will sell a tank, salt, and all the fixings along with the fish the same day!! Your tank sounds like it is stable if all the readings are in the acceptable range. Just be sure to go slow with the stocking of fish. Their bioload will change...

    Cleaner Shrimp

Could be a very iffy. I once had a yellow pseudochromis that absolutely terrorized my cleaners and fire shrimp. This was in a 125g tank with about 175 lbs of live rock. He eventually ate all but 2 shrimp, out of 5. I ended up finally catching him in a fish catcher, and returning him. I will...

    HOB fuge?

By far the best is CPR AquaFuge refugiums. They are very easy to maintain and come complete. A Medium would be sufficient, but if you have the room, go with the large. Can never have "too much of a good thing."

    beach fleas/whale lice??

Sounds like bristle worms. Did they look like centipedes? If so, absolutely normal in a reef tank, or at least a tank full of live rock. Discription could also be of amphipods. These are also good for the tank. They also only come out at night. Fish absolutely like to eat these. Both are...

Do I have too much live rock? - Pic attached

I wouldn't get rid of any of it. A good set up has as much live rock as possible without losing too much space, which you have done. If you get "bored" with the look, just move rocks around. You may be pleased with the new look without losing any of the biofiltration. May want to open up the...
