    Carribean play sand???

Actually, CC rises to the top. The smaller (and heavier) sand particles will fall between the CC particles filling gaps, eventually pushing the CC up. This is whats happening in my tank. I have CC/LS mix. The CC always finds its way up top.

    So Pretty!

I thought of doing that for mine but I dont have enough area around the coral to put the "feeding hat" on it. Also, what I feed it is kinda messy so I would just rather take it out. Keeps my water cleaner this way. Still a good idea, though.

    So Pretty!

I try to feed mine every other day. If you stick to a schedule on feeding times, you can "train" it to come out at around that time of day. I actually remove mine from the tank and place it in a small tupperware bowl with tank water when feeding. It doesnt bother it any. This way I can get more...

    xenia dieing???

I think I agree with the light theory. Have they always looked that stretched out? Light definately loses portions of its spectrum after passing through so much water. But since its been moved around so much, I would leave it alone for a bit. Not only will it be less stressful, but if the light...

    Canister Filter?

I would consider a good skimmer instead of a canister. Could help with the bioload action.

    CORALS under NO FLOURESCENT LIGHTS

Sun corals (tubestra) dont require light. They are bright orange, too. Only drawback is their feeding demands. You can also look into sponges if you just want color.

    protien skimmers...

I thought about doing this myself but I worry about flooding if there were a power outage. The thing I was thinking of doing is this... Get a small tank, position it above the display tank. Use a pump to drive water up to the small tank. Drill a hole near the middle of the tank and attach a hose...

Need help with our Red Sea Prizm Skimmer.

Just break up the water surface. Aim a powerhead (or the fluval outtake) towards it and make some ripples. An airstone also works. You just basically need the stuff stirred up to get it off the surface. The surface skimmer for the skimmer is to grab the upper 1" of water (protein concentrates on...

    Time/Money Commitment

You can do just fish, nothin wrong with that. Fish with live rock (FOWLR) is probably best. Live rock (LR) helps with the biological filtration so yeah, it reduces some maintenance action. Fish only is also definately cheaper. Dont have to worry about expensive lighting needs or other craziness...

    black spine urchin

The previous owner of my urchin said it had lost all its spines once. He didnt know why. It grew all its spines back and now, seems pretty healthy (as far as I can tell). It hasnt lost any spines since I've had it. It will recover if its just stress. Just give it some time.

Need Info on Sun and Plate Corals

Yeah, I thought it would stress it, too. Especially the changes in temp. But as you can see, there seems to be no issues with it. If you find any good info on the plate, please post it in here... I may be interested in getting one myself. I could use the info if I do. :)

Need Info on Sun and Plate Corals

Yeah, I never realized it would get that big, either... I try to feed it every other day. Ive heard of people feeding it every day to once a week. I figure every other day is a good ritual to keep with room to slack in case I miss a day or two. When I feed it, I take it out of the tank and place...
