    Tangs!!

i have found that when you mix tangs of the same genus you are looking for trouble. To keep it simple... If they have the same sillhouette don't put them together. IE- Yellow + Purple or Sailfin, no Yellow + Hippo, yes Yellow + Naso, yes etc

    Flow rate for 1" ...........

A straight flow, with no elbows, Tees, etc can handle around 700gph. Anything causing friction such as an elbow or horizontal flow will cause substantial slowing of the water.

    Flow rate for 1" ...........

1 inch pvc pipe On a gravity DRAIN you get around 600gph. The effluent of a PUMP can easily do 3,000gph IE- The waterfall thru your overflow to your sump can do 600gph with 1" pvc The same 1"pvc can have water sent back at 3,000+ gph

    more flow from overflows

I can give 100's of reasons why acrylic is better than glass, but only 1 why glass is better than acrylic... Glass doesn't scratch by merely looking at it.

    any marine bioligists out there

Marine Biologists don't make much money due to supply and demand. Alot of biologists for a small number of jobs. Most MBs do it for the love, not the paycheck.

    Ozone question

Ozone smells like a copy machine or thunderstorm.. the "electric air smell" Take a whiff of the air leaving the ozonizer, you will not mistake it for anything else. The smell you are getting from the skimmer is probably the oxidized organics that normally would continue flowing thru your system...

    more flow from overflows

Make your returns drains also. Make your new returns come up the back externally, as if you had a canister filter. This should give you qanother 6-700gph. I THINK that tank is tempered on the bottom. Do NOT drill tempered glass.

    drilling tank/st. petersburg

I don't know the area, but most glass shops will drill a hole for $8-10 per hole. Don't expect them to guarantee they won't break it. MAKE SURE IT IS NOT TEMPERED GLASS

    Flow rate for 1" ...........

Are you asking about gravity drain flows, or pressurized flows? You also need to consider elbows, tees, sweeps, etc. because of back pressure or head pressure. Remember this- (two) 1/2" pipes are not even close to equalling (one) 1" pipe.

    water tested for copper

Don't feel bad. Remember this... posting on the internet requires no credentials. Heck, I could be Jacques Cousteau reincarnated or a 10 year old with a goldfish bowl. Anyone who will take the time to privately email you and call you an idiot is probably on the lines of the 10 year old with a...

Copperband and Heniochus fish get along?

Heniochus and Chelmon (Copperband) are not closely related. I would agree with Denny if they were in the same Genus or species, but not for the same family. I am inclined to say your Copperband died and the Heniochus was taking the opportunity to get an easy meal- it was probably eating the eyes...

    filter questions

Your sl 250 is enough, capacity wise, but not big enough flow wise. I would buy a second overflow boxand have it go directly to the sump, instead of thru the filter. With the second overflow your pump could be an Iwaki 30rlt, Little Giant 4mdq, or a Gen X Mak4. I find these externals to be...

    filter questions

A sl250 only has one overflow box. The pumps people are recommending are great for a 180, but you won't be able to drain the water fast enough through a single 1" hose. Your overflow box is able to handle +/- 600gph. I would consider getting a second overflow box and bypass the filter, just have...
