    Online Information On Pods....

Well i have lots of amphipods in both tanks and isopods in my 20 on the glass. I'm trying to figure out what the tadpole looking pod is. It free swims in my 20 and they generally come out at night. They look like minature miniature tadpoles with silvery heads.

    My new baby

Make sure you spot feed the star. They tend to starve to death after a couple of weeks or months.

bugs on top of the water

Thats really odd then. I don't know of terrestrial bugs that can survive like that on saltwater. Maybe some sort of intertidal/lagoonal bug. On another note i do know that some fry/larvae of reproducing inverts/fish will float to the top ofthe water and survive up there until they are big...

    Online Information On Pods....

Is there an online source out there on everything pods? Im interested in knowing more beyond they are good and help clean the tank. Can't seem to find one though and would prefer a site with pictures of course... Thanks.

bugs on top of the water

If you have terrestrial bugs, which is being suggested, then you don't have enough circulation in the tank to keep them from doing that.

    Lalo or Figi LR?

Considering i've never heard of Lalo. Fiji is good rock all around. Whatever you do i would buy lb wise the size of your tank and leave room for that one rock that may have come out of an established system or come in on a shipment of live rock at the LFS. Best way to get alot of different...

Carpet or Bubble under 32w PC?

Noones sure why. Im sure its because we can't replicate its natural habitat and considering how long an anemone lives in the wild im sure that has something to do with it. Bang Guys lagoon is a good start btw... Keep in mind fish keeping (salt) is relatively new hobby and is only 25ish if...

    green chromis

I remember you aasking about this a while ago, at least i think. When i first bought mine they sat in one spot picking stuff out of the water column. Is that what yours are doing? A year and a month later the swim to all parts of my 12 and bed down in a structure of rock i made. Give them...

Carpet or Bubble under 32w PC?

Hahaha. Just noticed you became a Ninja Kip. Nice. I'll do it again and recommend returning the anemone and trying a frog or hammer spawn. Much better chance of keeping that a live in your tank under those lights.

    Limp Capnella!!

You never said what kind of lighting you had but try moving it down to the bottom. In my tank its on the bottom under only 30 watts of flourescents.... And give it some phytoplankton :)

i just got a penguin 330 bio wheel filter today

Hmm. Distilled is ok but RO is the absolute best. You may run into algae problems but worry about that when it happens because it doesn't always happen. Where are you getting it from? If you are going to buy distilled from the store by the gallon RO is cheaper. You can find RO water for...

    Newbie With 20 gallon tank

Live sand is not necessary as the live rock will provide the "life" to transfer down into the sand over time. I would buy 20lbs of live rock right off the bat. Live rock is your filtration. It harbors all the beneficial bacteria a tank needs to handle ammonia, nitrites, and even nitrates all...

    Newbie With 20 gallon tank

You need at least one power head that does 100+ gph. I'd recommend definitely getting 2 at 100+ gph. The skimmer isn't entirely necessary and i would hold off on that. It can only help though. You do need a heater because you need to keep the temperature at 78+ degrees. The tank is fine...

i just got a penguin 330 bio wheel filter today

Its not to bad until you start getting into the heavy duty lighting. Which you don't need unless you plan on buying corals and even then there are varying degrees of lighting choices. You do need the following though, not right away but eventually. 2 powerheads NOT RIO's 1 skimmer aragonite...

    alk...whats with it?

If you ever plan on keeping corals its something to learn. There is a relationship between the two beyond the numbers. Look for posts by broomer5 , i think it ends with 5 its at least broomer, on the subject. He's explained it bazillions of times. Until then i would stick to regular water...

    Newbie With 20 gallon tank

I'd recomend coralifes aqualights fixtures as a good cheap solution to lighting. I have a 2x65 watt power compact fixture over my 20 gallon and it works wonders. It cost me 120 to my door....It can handle just about anything you want to do with the tank short of sps and clams which are a very...

i just got a penguin 330 bio wheel filter today

Do you have live rock or will you be getting live rock? Mechanical filters should not be bought for thier filtration power but for their circulation power. The 330 is fine for a 55 but its only going to effectively cover half the tank since the 55 is so long and narrow. You will need 2 power...

    Limp Capnella!!

Phytoplex is essentially dead phytoplankton so its one and the same. Live would be much better but i use phytoplex myself. If you aren't using it try it. Once you get this thing going though it does take off. Here's a pic of when i first got it. What kind of lighting did you have? They are...
