Your problem should be solvable without spending alot of money on a refugium. Try out some of the methods the sharks described if you haven't already :)

Usually you can tell by color but the only true way to tell, no pun..., is the top fins of each species. True perc i think has 11 spines, while a false has 10. Not sure on those numbers. True percs are more pricey as well.

I think its an all inclusive toxin so everything in the tank.... Even if it is just fish your inverts and corals are at risk if things start dying and decaying without a rapid cleanup of the dead. Obviously disease in display = no fish for 4 weeks :)

Lunar Wrasses are notoriously mean. Keep your eye on him whenever adding fish to that tank. The arothron puffers are very cool pets :)

There are prefilters for power heads. I know maxijets have them. I'm sure the other brands make some sort of prefilter as well. Nothing wrong with shooting worms like that. BTW i would stop feeding your salt fish blood worms. Not their natural fare. Its a strictly fresh water food....
