    Green Water... I need help

Are you running a skimmer? Seems like you have a lot of organic pollutants. Check your phosphate levels. A good skimmer in your size tank should take care of a lot of this. Keep up with the water changes. Yes, poor lighting will contribute to this, old bulbs, or cloudy glass covers. If your...

My baby blue hippo, how much is too much?

Is he eating the algae sheet, or do you have other fish with him that may be eating it? Depending on what you see him eat will determine on if you should feed him more. Can you give a list of other fish? I have many herbivores in my tank that will eat a piece of algae sheet 2"x3" in no time...

    My 150 in the Wall

I would test for phosphates, even if you use RO/DI water.....fish poop, which can cause a phosphate jump. Frozen fish food, and especially dried fish food, have phosphates in them. If the green is just a color, (simple algae) not actually hair algae, then it is a sign of a maturing tank. But...

AZfishgal, or anyone else with Bangaii breeding experience

Update........ Well, I obviously miscalculated the due date.....here is daddy, and one of the babies. He is not finished...many more to come, so am waiting for the rest. I think I scared him today when I was moving rocks around....my large toadstool fell, so I had to rearrange. The baby has...

    purple reef lobster

I have a purple reef lobster, that after consuming all of my nassarius snails, did I learn that they need to be spot fed. I feed mine, and now he leaves everyone alone. Just a side note, you will almost never see it.....it hides continuously, and occassionally I see it. In my opinion, it is $35...

    Firefish schooling.???

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a true definition of male, female. At least not that I have heard of. They are usually good until full grown, then if they are the same gender do you somewhat know. Males will fight where females are more tolerate of other females.

    Firefish schooling.???

I will add my two cents.....I bought two, seemed great at the store, then they were good in the tank for about 2 months. They must have been the same gender, because out of the blue one started to pick on the other non stop, I ended up with one. Your choice, but I had a bad experience with two...

AZfishgal, or anyone else with Bangaii breeding experience

Thank you for the article. It answered one question that I had for sure. My other loner male is now carrying eggs!!!! Obviously, I have a very "fertile Myrtle" as far as my female. I have 2 males and one female, she has been a very active little girl in the past 2 weeks. Both males stay on...

Some retailers call them ruby mythrax crabs. I have 3 green, and 3 ruby, they are excellent scavengers and wonderful algae grazers.

AZfishgal, or anyone else with Bangaii breeding experience

Thanks for the info. He can barely close is mouth!! see second pic. He stays around the RBTA, which worries me....kind of like hatching out of a coccoon and flying right into a spider web.

AZfishgal, or anyone else with Bangaii breeding experience

Hello all. My male bangaii is stuffed with babies!! He has stayed away from all food since this weekend and his mouth is so full, it is almost comical. My question.....how long until the babies are released? I have tried to catch him, but my tank is not net friendly. He darts into the deep...

Would this fish be a good first choice

Any chance of getting a pic of this tank before fish? 420lbs of rock seems like a lot of rock, but sometimes certain rock can really be heavy and not really big. I am just worried that the fish don't have any room for swimming. Since you are dead set on a naso or two.

    Lets see those sponges!

I bought the orange tree sponge from this site, beautiful. But, it was way bigger than I thought it would be......easily 22 inches. I put mine in the rear of the tank, behind the rocks. They will grow better if they are not exposed to the high lighting of mh's. It has been 2 months and going...

Wat does filter floss and carbon do?

I agree, no debate. If carbon is used correctly it will do wonders for a reef tank. But, and I do mean BUT, it must be changed out frequently to do any good. It can only help the tank if it is used correctly. I have been using carbon since the beginning of my reefing experience...only a short...

Wat does filter floss and carbon do?

Why does Tizzo need a new dictionary? Seems right to me. Carbon bonds impurities to its surface, not absorbs them.
