Javajoe, Your not alone there, My wife and I are on a budget as well, and haven't had much in our tank due to her wanting a house (of all things!?!) We both are always looking at the small things we have, and our biggest expences being the fishies. So far we have had both good luck and major bad...

Ahhhh..... ok thanks guys that was lots of help. I'll invest in some snails and hermits, the brittle stars wouldn't last a day with my trigger. Dan

    RISC

Acuraman, I had a stock '78 mercury capri that would turn 9400rpm. Yes there was alot of pulling and tweeking in order to get this out of it, but I was able to run a 1/4 in less than 8sec. Now kids mind you I say "HAD" the poor thing blew up due to this. I also "HAD" a stock Ford Ranger that...

    Glass tank bowing????????

Sounds like its a cheaper acrylic tank to me. Even though acrylic is sturdier than glass it is made to bow under pressure, and still give off the glass appearance. Personally if it were me, I'd buy the other tank and put any future worries to rest now. Dan

    Welcome to my nightmare!!!

Bob thats a great idea, but wouldn't it be easier to just fill the cans then move them with a dolly? My boss moved his 400gal. once into a new house and he just did the dolly thing. worked great!

How often should you clean substrate?

I would love to get a brittle star, but Im lucky right now that my clown trigger hasn't touched my cleaner shrimp and emerald crabs. Learned my lesson there last brittle I had, the arms started going and I never knew my trigger was the culprit! I am using "Seaflor" Special grade Aragonite sand...

    ALGAE ON POLYPS ! !

I also had that problem. When I introduced 2 emerald crabs to my tank that was the first place they ran to. Not only did they leave the polyps alone, but cleaned the rock they are on completely :D Dan

    Algae Blenny

I bought an eyelash blenny 2 weeks ago, I found out that not only will he change colors, but he will also leave the "lip prints" act shy and to my surprise defend the shell he calls home. I was rolling when I saw him chasing my Cinnamon Clown arround the tank. Dan

    Strange Clown Behaviour

My Cinnamon clown does this all the time. Not only is he helping feed your coral by kicking up detrius, but just like TheReefman said he is making his "area"...mine controls the back of the tank and only allows my clown trigger there with him. Yesterday he hit the glass bottom so now he thinks...

Which anemone goes with tomato clown?

My cinnamon didn't like either anenome I got for him (long tentical and purple tip hatian) I was told he was wild, but being he didn't want anything to do with either of them (kicking sub. at then), I am guessing he's tank raised. Alot tank raised won't have anything to do with them from what I...

    LASER LIGHTS????

Just wanted to say that there are different types and strengths of lasers. The ones you see at laser light shows are extremely intence almost as much as the ones used in laser surgery. In the same token there are different sources of electic current running through these lasers, battery, 110w...

How often should you clean substrate?

Well my clown stirs it up rather well for me, I was just wondering if there is such as thing as too much detrius only because even when the clown stirs it up, the cloud is a deep-dark brown color. I didn't go deep into the sub. just hit the top partion in a few areas like the front of the tank...

How often should you clean substrate?

I got bored this morning and decided to use the vacuum I bought to clean my substrate. I am using aragonite and as i was vacuuming i was pulling out alot of seddiment. Now my tank is cloudy as hell. Should this seddiment be there? and if not how often should I vacuum? When I got the tank my...

    sand -vs- aragonite

Adrian, thanks...That is what I have now and no problems as of yet :D I was just reading up on those Burn, I don't understand the concept completely but from what I gather they use the substrate as a filtering agent.....Is this correct? Reguardless I want to put one in only because I have read...

    Floating Anenomones.....?????

Well I am working on my test levels, I know their off but not by too much, I got my PH up to 8.1 and ammonia is almost null(still fighting it). My substrate is an aragonite dsb (3-4in.) As for the lighting aspect I believe that is my problem due to their reaction toward a more intence...
