    Gotta talk about my Mangroves.

In July when I set up my reef (120 display and 200 total gallons) I decided to immediately insert Mangroves which I bought e b a y. Knock on wood with A LOT of time and $$$$$$$$$$$$$ my system seems to be perfect. Looking at pictures from when I first set up the tank I noticed that the root...

    120 Plumbed into Basement.

I really don't have anything to compare my skimmer to. Before this I had a 46 gallon bow tank with a hang on Red Sea Prism skimmer. LOL, so compared to that its unreal! It skims and seems to be producing a good amount of foam. Its not too dirty the tank so the foam is not a dark color all...

Im looking into getting a lighting system and need some help on which one to get.

Hmmm, interesting about these MaxSpect. Never heard of them until now, and I have been researching LED's for a while. The company that seems to be in the lead for quality and best lighting is Aqua Illuminations. I also am a fan of Acan but think theAI's quality is far superior and its a...

My Live Sand gets hard as a rock.

OK, not to beat a dead horse or nothing, but I checked and all my levels are perfect. Alk, Calcium, PH, Mag. I was told it is possible that because my reactor is producing the correct amount of levels, I do not have enough coral to absorb the calcium and other nutrients. Does this sound...

My Live Sand gets hard as a rock.

Yeah, I think this is gonna be the problem. My ProCal is a monster prob producing too much calcium and not having enough coral to suck it up. This is prob the problem. Im gonna have to lower it. Anyone fimilular with a ProCal? to reduce the calcium output am I lowering the bubble counter or...

    Internal vs external pumps

Powerheads that just move water around don't have oil in them. The internal pumps are what you have to worry about. I have a Mag24 pumping from my sump to refuge and LR tank. Your story is a little worrisome.

My Live Sand gets hard as a rock.

The tank has been set up since July. Its a 120 display, 55 Refuge (with Live sand and chaeto) a 30 gallon Live Rock tank and a large sump, prob about 30-40 gallons. The refuge because there is nothing turning the sand up has become almost a crust layer on top. When you break the layer it...
