    Potential new salt hobbist

as someone else mentioned a nano is probably simpler for what your looking for. An external Sump and drilling a tank starts to get a lot more complicated. (Even though it is a good route to take if you know what your doing or are a very good DIYer) Here's a picture of my nano, its taught me alot...

Moving overseas - what to do with fish

    a. I'm pretty sure you don't live at their place of origin, especially if its not tropical waters they wouldn't have much of a chance in most US oceans unless you live in the Keys or something (that still doesnt' mean it'd be ok) b. there's outbreaks of non native fish across the US every year...

Koralia 3 - cold blooded murder

My anemone wanders about once a month and half the time gets stuck in the intake for my nano or gets a haircut on the koralia. Its never died though and always comes back healthy, and last time it split into two anemones! (consequence of having a small tank)

ah, nice, I was going to say for such a nice setup and the expense of all those anemones, it seemed a bit inconsistant

    Fragging Montipora Capricornis

I've used super glue on the side and attached it to a rock face oriented perpendicularly.... I would imagine you could also super glue it to a plug on the bottom, eventually it will grow onto whatever you attach it to.

Tons of little snails! From Nowhere!!!

I had lots of em in the first few months of my tank.... they get to be pretty large eventually. you are right, that they seem to have a "turtle shell" back. From what I know they eat algae and don't cause any problems.

    Potential new salt hobbist

I'd recomend getting new live sand, you never know the condition of the stuf he has currently. If rock has been sitting dry then it is not live rock. It could be used as base rock after being rinsed thourougly and could be seeded with some good live rock. However this would possibly increase...

    Potential new salt hobbist

I don't feel that adding a few inverterbrates should take away from your total fish count. For instance in my 24 nano, I have 4 fish, along with a flame shrimp and emerald crab. Some will recomend against crabs due to the fact that they can very unpredictable. However mine has been fine. The...

    Potential new salt hobbist

Reef tank means that you would eventually be setting up for adding corals, invertebrates (shrimp, crabs, snails etc.), possibly macroalgae, definitley live rock and live sand or crushed coral. Fish only tanks have been known to be run without live rock and live sand with very good mechanical...
