    You have to soak them in saltwater for a long time untill they stop adding things to the water. Basically you have to neutralized them.

    This is mine's baby picture. Thats a 10 gallon he's in. He won 2nd or 3rd place (whatever red is) overall marine fish at only 5"!!! Show size for a Volitan is supposed to be 10" minimum. When my evil little Huma killed him, he was 15" long with an 18" fin span.

    The sand is ok to leave in, you must take out the water to the sand level though. Do not lean the tank to pick it up, try sliding it around to get your hands underneath.
