    first krack

I have to disagree about the tomatoe being so agressive. My TC is six years old (first fish in the tank) and doesn't beat up anyone. She allows some in her area (the mandarin and the seahorse) and does chase away others, but not violent or harmful.

The adventure of my 45g *reef lite* tank!

Good for you D! The little red things are featherdusters? Fun stuff. Keep your eyes open, you'll probably come across more hitchhikers. Some good, some not so good. I love these threads. I'm pretty much a weirdo..love seeing the clean, fresh tanks! Nice job!

Try the nano forum? That would be the best advice I can think of.

    Mandarin Goby

jktenpro, I hope yours does make it! Do you have others that depend on the pod population? I guess "well established" might be a vague statement. I added my mandarin to a 3 year old tank, that has been upgraded twice in 6 years, some of the rock is that old. I have an incredible # of pods. When...

    Fedukeford's 125 reef diary!

Nicely done! You should be congratulated (um, congrats!). That is a beautiful tank! By the way, all rockwork "sucks" when it's bare. I bet it won't be long and you won't even be able to see much rock at all. :happyfish

How many people actually do their water changes?

About 20% every other week, more often in the summer. Larger tanks have a wider error margin, don't they, for those with 100+ gallon?

Would a 125 be big enough for these two tangs?

Yeah for Allysia! :joy: I had a yellow, a nasso and a hippo in a 150 and they never fought, just drove me bonkers with the race-track. I realize a purple can be a real (&^#$ of a fish, but if you add them simultaneously, like Mayor says.. What other fish will you have?

    Mandarin Goby

I have read some folks on this forum that have mandarins that accept prepared food (frozen mysis shrimp) but not many. My own mandarin totally ignores the food I offer. Totally. Pods, other rock bugs (?) is what she lives on. You have to have 100lb (give or take a pound) of well established Live...

How often to feed / how much?

My first thought is keep that coral banded fed or he will be the ONLY man. Lots of algae eaters there, but also some pretty solid carnivores. I would get some silverside and cut it fairly small. Blocks of Formula two. Blocks of mysis. Thaw what you think is one feeding of the combined above...

    crabs killing fish??

I've only seen my sally try to shoo fish away. And she is pretty big. The pinscers, though, are still very small. I don't see how she could take hold of a healthy fish, much less kill one
