How do you get rid of green hair algae?

I have bumble bee snails, cerith snails, astrailia snails(not sure of spelling). Right now I would say maybe 4 to 6 square inches total spread out on a few rocks, but the majority of it is on the top of one of my powerheads and some on the cable. There's not really much of it but I want to get a...

How do you get rid of green hair algae?

My refugium is underneath my tank. The light on the fuge is on 24 hrs a day. I cut the lighting in my main tank from 14 hrs to 8 hrs. I am using RO water. I have at least 15 hermits and at least 15 snails in a 45 gallon tank. I only feed once a day and the food is gone in minutes.

    Bubble Algae

I got a hose big enough for the bubble to fit through. Then I started a syphon and used the hose to knock the bubble loose. This way, if the bubble burst, the syphon would suck out any spores and lessen my chance of spreading the spores. I haven't seen anymore since I removed the one.

How do you get rid of green hair algae?

How do you get rid of green hair algae? I have a refugium and the macroalgae in there is doing great, so I am baffled as to why I would get green hair algae in my display tank. I thought the macroalgae would overpower the microalgae?

    thermometer in sump

Yes, put your heater in the sump. The water will be heated in the sump and pumped into your main system. I have a digital thermometer in both my sump and my main tank and there is no temperature difference at all, not even a tenth of a degree.

You should be ashamed and feel guilty, all that live rock for only 50 bucks? I think the best way for you to feel better and to get over your guilt is to sell it all to me for 25 bucks. :D

    Jebo In Sump Filter Question

How long have you had it? It takes about a week to break in any skimmer. You might want to go to your LFS and buy an air valve. They cost about 69 cents for two of them. The air valve that comes with it is junk and you cant regulate it.

    Ideas for Rock Display

I think your rock looks good the way it is. I have to say that I agree with Mud. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw your pics. With a 30 and a 20 gallon tank, that gives you 500 lbs on those shelves. If one of those angle brackets get bumped hard enough, all that weight will...

    Bubble Algae, good or bad?

It's gone now. I started a syphon and knocked the bubble loose with the hose. It got sucked out right away with the syphon. This way, I didn't take any chances with it spreading.

    Size Of Tank

To be honest, you are better off starting with a bigger tank, at least a 45. You can use the 20 gallon as a sump which will give you that much more water volume in your system and be more forgiving with your water parameters.

Fishhead: Not all fish are jumpers and those who do have jumpers cover their tanks with eggcrate to keep the fish from jumping out. Even though they have eggcrate on top, it is still considered open top.
