Please Help Me Design a 125 for my Parents

You could easily build your own stand and canopy. If you had a circular saw, miter box, and a good square you could build one pretty easy. I posted pictures ( 125 DIY stand progress ) in the DIY forum. I saved litteraly hundreds of dollars and it was a lot of fun. I used oak which cost a lot...

    pH problem

RO water removes everything from the water. Most salt mixes assume that you will use tap water that has some buffering capacity and some calcium. So when you mix with RO, you usually should throw in a spoon of buffer and a shot of calcium to replace what the RO unit took out of the tap water...

    125 DIY stand progress

After all of the wood, glue, screws, stain and sealer I spent about 175 dollars and about 12 hours work not counting drying times. I figure that the canopy should run no more than 100 dollars and I will have wood left over.

PLEASE Need advice, I'm about to buy lighting

Rhomer. The reason why I mentioned a chiller is that I had a 4-65 watt PC retro on my 90 and in the summer I had to run fans to keep my tank at 82 which I think was to warm. Now I did not say that Aliciak will have to run a chiller, just probably will unless the canopy or hood is well...

PLEASE Need advice, I'm about to buy lighting

4-65 watts will probably require a chiller unless you have a hood with lots of venilation and fans going. PC's run pretty hot. I really like VHO and If you upgrade to a bigger tank you can use the VHO's for actinics and go with MH or more VHO. VHO's run cooler than PC. You could start with...

    my first stand and canopy

If you buy the wood at lowes, they will cut it for you. I would make the front piece as wide as the tank . Mine has the sides visible and that was just me measuring wrong. I used a table router to round the edges.

    my first stand and canopy

I made the canopy first with wood from one store and the stand later on from another store and it was the cheapest wood in stock they had. I am currently starting a 135 gallon stand and canopy and plan on using oak the whole way around. I used golden oak stain on the stand and canopy. It was...

    90 gallon reef

The tank has matured to where I only spend about 5 minutes a day feeding and adding in buffer. Once a month I clean the magnum and skimmer and every other week I change 10 gallons.
