    IMHO dont skimp on a skimmer. Its one of the most important parts of a saltwater tank. Save the $$$ for a good one.

    Any ideas of what this may be? I just noticed it on my mushrooms. Its a round white ball. Sorry for the crappy pic. Ill try and get a better one but my camera just sucks.

    Here my skimmer on my 46 bow. Its from Marine Technical Concepts. Excellent skimmer IMO. Not the best pic though.

    Spend the money on a larger clean up crew. Its worth it. For my 46 i got 10 nassarius snails, 10 turbo/astreas, 1 mexican turbo, 20 blue leg hermits, 2 emerald crabs. The peppermint shrimp wont eat zoos. Not that i have seen or heard. For the diatoms i hear cerith snails love them. I would look...

    Spray bar, yes or no

    I use my spray bar to keep the top of the water moving. I didnt make it i just bought one. I believe its a Eheim. I did have to cut it a little to fit. My powerhead keeps everything else moving on the bottom.

    It will go away eventually. However i would try and determine whats causing the diatom outbreak. How often do you do water changes?

    I have a blue background. Im thinking of switching to black though. I just like the look better. IMO its preference. Whatever you like. Me personally i like solid color backgrounds. Not printed ones.

    Just run the filter. Turn the powerheads off until it clears. It will clear. My 46 gallon took 6 days to clear up.

    I use the AP test kit also. Ive never had a problem with it. Its Nitrate #2 bottle you shake for 30 seconds not the ammonia.
